The though thing is recognizing how to identify potential script machines in online auctions when they don't explicitly state or show the typeface. For many machines prior to 1970 the clue to a script machine may be a dedicated "1" key as script lower case "l" typically won't suffice to also stand in for the number 1 as it did for most other typefaces.

On machines with stated script faces, you may need to be prepared to pay $100-150 on average above the cost of just the machine itself. Less common (and more expensive) variations are machines with Fraktur, Vertical Script, or Spencerian typefaces.
