    1. Notable exceptions are sports and school trips, where teachers get to know a different side of students, build trust, and connect with families.

      Interesting that this isn't the norm - that relationships, in these examples, are built outside of the classroom. How can we bring that same almost-familial relationship into our classes?

      This is an interesting point: the hope that by conveying purpose and a framework to students you help them to be more self sufficient and self-directed.
