Introducing neuroscientists to on-line annotation

Hypothesis is teaming up with the Neuroscience Information Framework to introduce the neuroscience community to the potential of web-based, open annotation.

 

Society for Neuroscience Attendees:  Share your knowledge through adding annotations to any web page or PDF using Hypothesis, and you will be entered into a drawing for an Apple Watch.

You must be attending the Society for Neuroscience Meeting in Chicago, Oct 17-21st to enter.

Simply:

1. Register for a Hypothesis account
2. Register for YAnnotateSFN
3. Annotate one or more webpages with at least 3 public, substantive annotations (i.e., ?, test, lipsum factum, don’t count). You might consider:
   • a scientific article (preferably open access): e.g., pick one of your articles and give us some updates, make a difficult article easier to understand for students or non-experts, or just pick something that is interesting and discuss it with your colleagues
   • a news story about neuroscience: tell us what you think? Is it accurate?
   • a Wikipedia article on neuroscience: We are testing the use of Hypothesis to provide some peer review or suggestions for improvement for Wikipedia articles.
   • Participating in the Resource Identification Initiative by helping us annotate reagents and tools in the literature.
4. Stop by the NIF booth at SFN:  #2115 (Right by the NIH booth)

The drawing will be held on Oct 28th.

Additional Rules:

1. You must attend SFN to be eligible
2. No more than 10 entries per person
3. Annotations must be public, not private
4. Article must have at least 3 substantive annotations
5. You agree to let Hypothesis link to annotated content from our web page
6. You agree to be contacted by Hypothesis for follow up
