method of predicting IQ with demographic variables carries with it a standard error of prediction (SEp) of 11.4
which is way higher than the SAT? I feel like the SAT would have way higher chance of error due to outside variables.
-
premorbid
every source so far uses this word

It would be of considerable benefit for researchers and clinicians to have an equation for estimating an individual's IQ from an objective measure such as the SAT.
I genuinely think this is a bad idea. should be a separate test as too many things are decided based on one high stakes test.
-
the SAT may have been overlooked as a potentially useful measure of general cognitive functioning.
general cognitive function is different from both intelligence and reasoning ability, which is very confusing to me
-
examine the relationship between psychometric g, socioeconomic variables, and achievement-test scores.
THIS IS BASICALLY MY RESEARCH QUESTION
-
accurately differentiate among individuals at the upper end of the scale
so test is already made for "more intelligent" people and not equal throughout the ENTIRE spectrum.
-
SAT ceased to measure intelligence (Barnes, 2002). Rather, the College Board currently asserts that the SAT measures reasoning ability, which they hold as different from intelligence.
which is actually more important for the real world? which do more students possess? which is easier to teach?
-
and the knowledge that g is one of the most reliable predictors of academic achievemen
shouldn't students with less "g" get into the best schools to receive the most help and reaching academic success?
-
Validity Study Service (VSS).
can do research on the VSS

Two thirds of the variance in predicting admissions decisions could be accounted for by academic factors, split equally between high school record and admissions test scores, including SAT scores (Willingham & Breland, 1982).
so basically you can tell if you are gonna get into a good school or not based on your test scores and grades. not good.
-
One particular test of academic achievement, however, is conspicuously absent from these studies.
is the SAT not the most widespread and well known school test?
-
We provide equations for converting SAT scores to estimated IQs; such conversion could be useful for estimating premorbid IQ or conducting individual difference research with college students.
how reliable are these equations? how can we be sure that IQ is a direct output of the equation when inputting test scores?
-
There is little evidence showing the relationship between the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and g (general intelligence).
what defines general intelligence? how does this differ from "normal intelligence" or "school intelligence"?
