Re-cent work by Reinecke et al.  is one example of how culture affects the ways in which people organise them-selves around time, and Adam  provides a useful account of different cultural metaphors of time, contrasting, for in-stance, timelines, which emphasise linear, directional movement, with cyclic representations, which represent rhythm and stability.
