The history of pre-vious information overload panics and the tools that were devised to cope with them suggests that a period of info overwhelm after the invention of every radically more efficient means of communication tends to be greeted by alarm, followed by new info tools and the growth of newly literate pop-ulations. The problem has never been definitively solved.
