    1. During this stage of development the child is continually searching fornew concepts, and his representational symbols change constantly. Herepresents a man today differently from the way he will draw a man to-morrow. We see at this stage the greatest variety of forms representing thesame object. This constant searching for new concepts will graduallydevelop into a representative pattern for each child. This individualpattern, or schema, can be readily observed in drawings by the time a childis seven years old; however, before this individual pattern, or schema, isfirmly established, we have a very flexible and, to some adults, the mostexciting stage of development in children's drawings
