The child assumes that every priest undertook the "duties" of priesthood with unadulterated integrity and commitment; he cannot yet entertain the complexities of life which necessitate compromise and disappointment. Oftentimes the pursuit of priesthood is not driven by "courage" or other such pure motives, nor do people undertake "grave" duties with complete seriousness at all times.
