It seems no matter how a Chinese may live and dress so long as you know they Chinese. Then they are hated as one. There is not any right or justice for them.
I believe it was very brave for Mary to state that her daughter dresses more like a Caucasian and plays with them then. And questioning why isn’t she allowed to go to school with them, no matter how they were raised they were still not okay with them with being able to get educated at the same place. Very sad that there was no right or justice for them as long as they were Chinese.

This is just heartbreaking, to know that most Christians still believed it was okay to treat them differently because of their Race, even though like Mary Tape had stated that God made us all and in the Bible it is stated that God made us all equal.

Americans are not all bad, nor are they wicked wizards. Still, they have their faults, and their treatment of us is outrageous.
Lee Chew states and recognizes that even after everything Americans have done and have treated them, all Americans aren’t bad and aren’t wicked wizards.

This specific quote just shows that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. To migrate there is always disadvantages and doesn’t get easier, but brave enough not knowing what’s to come

This is a very interesting statement since their “winning a wilderness” wasn’t really a win. The land wasn’t “untouched”, instead they took away land from the Natives.

From my understanding, this states that their survival was going to be a challenge due to them having moved West, therefore had to adapt to a discovery of new land, culture and new living habits. It was crucial for them to accommodate for survival.

I would prefer to live by ourselves, for there is a prejudice against us in the South that will take years to get over; but I do not know that I can answer for my brethren
Frazier was aware he wasn’t able to speak for the rest of the community, but he believed and stated that he’d prefer to live in separated communities due to the prejudice against the South, and this goes to show that they felt it was necessary it happened in order for them to feel safe and steer away from the prejudice against them.
