    1. Within two months of graduation, 98 percent of Asbury grads are employed or in graduate school — a powerful testament to the quality of their preparation at Asbury.

This is HUGE! That is an amazing employment rate within two months. This really shows how well they not only prepare you for the work force but invest in you after college through getting you started in whatever industry you are entering.

    2. With a 12:1 student/faculty ratio (and nearly 80 percent of faculty holding terminal degrees) Asbury provides personal investment and world-class expertise.

This is a huge advantage to going to a smaller private school. Other schools such as UGA have a huge student body, therefore making the student/faculty ratio way bigger. This smaller scale ratio allows students to have a personal relationship with their professors and allows students to learn through question asking and enables more direct learning.

    1. Asburians have worked on more than 350 theatrically-released films and more than 500 network television productions, and have won over 60 Emmy Awards.

This is super cool. Not many schools have this history of exceptional graduates for this type of program. Hopefully I will be able to become a part of this program and industry in the future.

    1. The equipment includes digital film cameras and prime lenses, surround sound microphones, three camera jibs, two doorway dollies, lighting equipment, audio equipment for foley work, and a Steadicam.

Being able to work with equipment that you will be working with when you enter into the working world gives you a huge leg up in terms of being hired for different productions. If you already have the skills with the equipment that productions companies use for big movie sets, then you will be super prepared to walk straight into this working field.

    1. Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a Federal Campus-Based Program that provides students with the opportunity to earn college funds by obtaining a part-time positon on or off campus.

This sounds like a great opportunity for students that either don't want to decrease their loan amount or need a general source of income during college. This is a cool program because you don't have to look for a job and apply for off campus jobs while you are in school but one is assigned to you.

    1. Once you earn your first Bachelor’s degree you are no longer eligible for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarships.

This is interesting that the Hope and Zell Miller Scholarships are not given and/ or continued for a graduate degree. I did not know this before. This is nice to know if I end up going into a graduate degree after my undergrad.

    2. The HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships are available to qualifying Georgia residents who demonstrate academic achievement.

If I am able to get Hope and Zell and make it into UGA then i probably will go to UGA. The other school I am looking at is a private school and may end up costing more money to get into if I qualify for Hope and Zell by the end of my senior year. Hopefully I will be able to do the SAT more than once before I apply for these colleges.

    1. The Entertainment and Media Studies major at the University of Georgia is designed to prepare students for careers in the entertainment media industries.

UGA does have the major that I am interested in. I'm curious to see how extensive the major is. Another school that I am looking at, Asbury, is world renowned for their Media Communications programs. They take student to the Olympics every 2 years, have industry standard equipment, and host many film festivals.

    1. A challenging schedule will not counterbalance a non-competitive GPA, as your grades ultimately remain the single most important factor.

Even though some students may take many difficult AP classes, they also need to maintain a competitive GPA. Many students who are accepted into UGA took many AP courses in high school while also maintaining a GPA of around 4. This is a necessity for UGA as the application process is very competitive.

    2. For first-year admission, UGA requires that an applicant submit an official score report for either the ACT or SAT. Scores must be submitted electronically by the respective testing agency.

This is a pretty usual requirement when applying for colleges. As some of the 2021 high school graduating class haven't completed an SAT due to Covid-19, I wonder how this will effect their application process to schools such as UGA.

    1. Filmmaking (or, in an academic context, film production) is the process of making a film, generally in the sense of films intended for extensive theatrical exhibition.

My dream career is to be a filmmaker. More specifically doing freelance filmmaking. This can encompass anything from doing wedding videos to making commercials for big brands.
