    1. These within- and between-island differences were of the same order, and less than 1% overall, suggesting that the two populations most likely diverged after the origin of this species and not long enough ago for speciation to have taken place.

"speciation is formation or new species or distinct specie in the course of evolution." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speciation

    2. Figure 1Morphological Differences between Males from Lord Howe Island and Ball’s Pyramid

It is confusing to know if they are the same species. How is one suppose to know what physical structures to match?

    1. +ssRNA viruses, a large group that includes human pathogens such as SARS-CoV, replicate in the cytoplasm of the infected host cells.

A misconception that I had was I thought SARS-CoV replicates in the ER.

    2. Proven to be the novel pathogen of COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 belongs to the beta-CoV genus, a linear, single-stranded RNA genome of approximately 30 kb, and the Sarbecovirus sub-gene, as seen in

what is the difference between alpha, beta, gamma and delta CoV.

    3. Among these, the most notable mutations are those in the gene encoding the S protein, which is associated with viral entry into the cells. There are currently around 4000 mutations in the S protein gene. There are a few mutations in the region called the receptor-binding motifs (RBMs) of the S protein, the region responsible for viral entry through its interaction with the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (hACE2) receptor on the host cells [7].

The protein used to enter the host cell and what the protein binds to on the host cell.

Cadaveric means: " relating to or from a dead body," definition from dictionary.cambridge.org

    2. As this cross-species oxytocin loop can be found in dogs and humans, but not between dogs’ closest living relative (the wolf) and humans, selection processes during domestication must have played an important role whereby dogs hijacked the human caregiving response (15).

Helped me understand why dogs are attracted to humans. Helps me understand what cause the behavior change and why wolves and dogs are different in a psychological way.

    3. Dogs were domesticated over 33,000 y ago (1), and, during that time, selection processes have shaped both their anatomy and behavior and turned them into human’s best friend (2)

interesting fact. What lead them to change their behavior? Because in the article it also says wolfs don't act the same as domestic dogs, they don't think of humans as their bestfriends.
