    1. Renaissance figures were more interested in capturing the unique qualities of particular individuals and in describing the world as it was than in portraying or exploring eternal religious truths

The art style that they used was very raw. This is why paintings from this era look so detailed and sometimes even goofy. There was no sugar coating or theoretical additions when the art was modeled by real people. Statues from this time are also super cool and realistic for the time period.

    2. Births, deaths, marriages, and other population data were carefully recorded on quipus, the knotted cords that served as an accounting device.

I think customs like this that include physical media are so cool. This particular example reminds me of the custom of the Na’vi, from the movie ‘Avatar’, in which they create ‘song cords’ with twine and beads representing major life experiences. Of course there are many other examples of art customs, like the Shabti Figures in Ancient Egypt or cylinder seals from Ancient Mesopotamia.

    3. Nor did China possess an impulse to convert foreigners to its culture or religion, as the Europeans surely did.

Right! It was usually uncommon for Asia-based religions to try to convert people. Many of their religions focused more on self- preservation, like Buddhism. They cared more about the application of the lifestyle to their own life.
