The mass media age has made it almost impossible for normal people to avoid the insane.
Expresses his point of view on social media, and is another claim.
The mass media age has made it almost impossible for normal people to avoid the insane.

The problem is, Covid has now allowed virtual madness to leave the matrix and invade the physical space.
Another claim, that Covid is making people crazy, and people following protocols are insane. Shows us the author's view on Covid.
The constant interaction with the mentally unstable keeps everyone on edge
The constant use of long sentences with such repetitive and boring language makes the article sloppy. I'm pretty sure the term "mentally unstable" and synonyms of it make up 60% of this man's vocabulary.
They are like a plague of lunatics with infinite triggers.
This adds to the argument by giving us a clear image of the the author's character (ethos). He uses analogy's like this one to make people who don't fit in his box of "normal" sound horrible. The words "lunantic" is also a Dysphemism. He really loves using dysphemisms. apparently.
Social media changed this.
Claim of Value; he believes that "nutjobs" are all over social media, and how it's almost impossible for a "normal" person to avoid them.
This relationship has reached its end.
This article was very poorly written, to say the least. It provides so little evidence and such poorly connected points the message (which I'm assuming is America is going to be divided forever?) is completely lost, until he just springs it on you in the end. He relies so heavily on ethos, that he knows best and is superior, to make his points he as no room left for logos. All that's here is his giant ego and terrible writing.
Like a marriage headed for divorce, Americans may be at that point of no return where one or both sides realize it is over.
He makes a final claim in his conculsion, which calls back to the title.
Have we always had this number of crazy people, but they suffered in private, or has something caused many to go mad? It is possible that mass psychosis is an inevitable end to mass society.
Rhetorical questions to make a point.
What Covid has done is bring two important questions to the fore
Beginning of conclusion. Thank God.
We now live in two separate cultural and psychological spaces. There are those with triple masks, barrels of hand sanitizer, and a full booster card. Then there are the purebloods with their bare faces and their increasing impatience with the Covidian.
All these exaggerations and focus on imagery make it impossible to find any real evidence and technique in his writing. He is relying too heavily throughout on imagery and making the other side look bad, he lost his ENTIRE point. I don't understand where he was going with this, nor what his purpose is. Is he just trying to villify everyone who doesn't agree with him?
There is increasing evidence that many of these people are hooked on panic.
Suggests there's "evidence" but gives none.
Omicron variant is about as harmful as the common cold, but it is causing another wave of mass lunacy
Again, he relies on you to not research ANYTHING he says. Appeal to Ignorance. He doesn't even link a source this time.
hether it is crazy people taking over the media, or the media being told to trigger the deranged, the mass media now feeds the lunacy of the Covidians. They claim the health
Appeal To Anonymous Authority.
the media is also pushing the madness
Another claim. The author had no clear thesis, so it's odd to see so many claims popping up out of no where. It reminds me of my timed write, except I wrote it in 40 minutes.
A bit of carny trash assaulted an old man on an airplane who was trying to eat his dinner. Her reason for assaulting him was that he did not have on his mask while eating. This woman tested herself mid-flight, got a positive test for Covid, then locked herself in the toilet for the remainder of the flight. For the passengers, there was no escaping her madness.
If you actually read the story he is talking about, you will notice... he is literally lying. There is not a single truthful part of this paragraph. He is fully releing on the fact that you won't go fact-check him, and thus would be "appeal to Ignorance"
It is no longer possible to ignore
This would be his "evidence" showing how covid is making people crazy.
Talk to one of them and you quickly learn that they are not motivated by bad information. Instead, the masks and the other performative gestures are emotional support items.
Hasty Generalization; he is labeling everyone who wears masks/follows CDC guidelines as mentally ill. We know this because the connotation behind "emotional support items" (like dogs, blankets, etc) are that they are used by... mentally ill people.
, hunting the barefaced
A lot this imagery of hunting the "Barefaced" and, later "purebloods" is used to make it seem like anti-vaxxers/,maksers are the "victims" of the whole situation., When truly, they are blowing this out of proportion.
berserk
Harsh language used once again. We see words like "berserk" and "insane" often in this article; showing a very negative, superior tone.
left-wing college buddy by avoiding certain topics. The cost of tolerating these mentally unstable people
Equates someone's being "left-wing" with mental stability. This could be seen as "false equivalence".
fine print of the Republican platform.
The intended audience is republican individuals, based on this line.
nutty aunt who is always into some cause, a cause that changes with the news cycle. Perhaps it is a friend who knows a bit too much about conspiracy theories. Of course, everyone has been cursed to know someone who thinks Hitler is hiding under their bed or in the fine print of the Republican platform.
Insight into author's idea/ bias towards liberal individuals/ people with differing beliefs. Due to the strong language, heavy exaggerations, etc. it is obvious he has a very clear distain for people.
Most normal people have always known that there are people in the world who are just on the edge of sanity.
Introduction Beginning of a very messy classical oration style.
