I tink women are employed in the labor force than ever before in U.S. history. The author describe that women have been erased from history becuase of the earnings gap between men and women is considerable; families headed by a woman who works are more likely to live in poverty than those headed by a man; and women tend to work in low-income occupations that do not reflect their educational achievements. I think they are face many struggle to find many different kinds of approaches to ending discrimination against women. Commpare to us there's been a big change and relative equality right now.

    1. the Song of Solomon,

It's a poem from the Old Testament. It's about a young girl and her lover. Finally, when their love failed, they committed suicide. Like the "ocean" of her drowning, it represents the abyss and the endless secrets floating on the bottom of the sea. We're the only ones who can go down to the bottom of the ocean and find the past unforgiving.

    1. Tell all the truth but tell it slant — Success in Circuit lies Too bright for our infirm Delight

I think the author's words are a cautionary tale by using “Tell all the truth but tell it slant”. I personally think the truth is often cruel or unpopular. On the contrary, it is easier to accept messages that are embellished or circuitous. Although the authors say “Success in Circuit lies Too bright for our infirm Delight” for me I think sometimes too much light hurts not only the eyes but also the dark side

I think the author's first sentence has a strong personal point of view that allows the reader to know what she is thinking directly. Personally, I would be curious to know what she would say next, and what discoveries would lead her to such an opinion and conclusion.According to the author's verse, the Truth About many things is not always what it seems. What we see, hear or feel may have different meanings. There are many times when human beings may be wrong about something

    1. As I learn from you, I guess you learn from me— although you’re older—and white— and somewhat more free.

I think Langston Hughes felt that being Colored would be treated differently, but he felt that his ability to learn would not be inferior just because he was Colored. He should feel helpless to the stereotype, but at same time I can feel his youthful energy about access to knowledge and self-affirmation

    2. What awful brain compels His awful hand. Yet do I marvel at this curious thing: To make a poet black, and bid him sing!

The stereotypes during the time minimized African Americans ability to make worthwhile contributions to something as highbrow as art in America, this speaker finds a reason to marvel at his identity as both a poet and an African American. I think African-American get enormous harm in difficult times so he feels confused about why they suffer in this situation.
