    1. A good character can sustain multiple narratives and thus lead to a successful movie franchise. A good “world” can sustain multiple characters (and their stories) and thus successfully launch a transmedia franchise

So many examples, but look at Harry Potter; books, movies, games, theme parks, studios, apps, websites, etc. So even when the consumer is finished with one aspect of the franchise, they have more to explore.

    2. In a world with many media options, consumers are choosing to invest deeply in a limited number of franchises rather than dip shallowly into a larger number.

Yes and no. I think people are doing both. Take Netflix; so many people don't want to 'commit' to a new series so they'll watch a few episodes of something and a few episodes from something else to pass the time, while not getting invested. However, the same people can still get deeply invested in another franchise. I really think its dependent on the person. Some, are all or nothing, others can be both.

    3. If media companies reward that demand, viewers will feel greater mastery and investment; deny it and they stomp off in disgust.

Viewers/consumers want to feel like they are part of a family/something exclusive. When companies start selling out, the fans feel betrayed and lose trust in the brand.

    4. Hollywood acts as if it only has to provide more of the same, printing a Star Treklogo on so many widgets

Reminds me of the Star Wars franchise (the new movies). They had their name on everything and it was shocking to see the sell-out mentality. They weren't using their brand to promote products that the viewers would genuinely enjoy, instead they were slapping their name on AA batteries and six packs of tangerines.

    5. computer owners consume on average significantly more television, movies, CDs, and related media than the general population.

You really do consume more on a computer/tablet/mobile than you would do on a TV or radio. TVs are phasing out, young generations don't watch TV in comparison to how their parents and grandparents would have. TVs are now used to either watch streaming services or play video games on. I rarely watch television, I don't even own one. I consume everything on my computer or mobile.

    6. era of media convergence that makes the flow of content across multiple media channels almost inevitable.

Newspapers, magazines now moving to online versions (soon to die out) Look at the news; you can read the newspaper, listen to the radio, read a news app, read the online paper, read tweets about current news.. it really is across multiple media channels.
