Coates isn’t trying to push done with opinion onto everyone and making it enforced. For example, let's say people on the left will make a statement that they claim is to be true, like guns are completely wrong. People on the right will be upset and not even consider their argument because of them claiming it was true. I would never want to listen to someone that isn't considering or open to what I believe in. The writer wouldn’t be able to gain my trust this way.
