    1. interdisciplinary approach

It is interesting how we separate so many subjects as schooling progresses instead of looking at how we can form those relationships to keep everything integrated. I loved in my college years how, as a journalism major, they made sure I have taken science, statistics, sociology, philosophy, etc because they said you can't be a good writer if you don't know what you are writing about. Applies to children and the connection they should form in their learning areas as well.

    2. an openness to change

I find this one of the most challenging aspects when trying to introduce Reggio to teachers who have been doing the same thing for 25 years. I like it as a part of the culture...Makes teaching so much more exciting.

    1. local hair salon

What a great way to extend the project and I love the staying in touch with a former daycare parent. It is important to remember that they can still contribute year after year.

    2. title

I often re-write titles again and again because I want to make sure it is conveying the right message - but again it is hard to predict what people interpret without asking them!

    3. different language

So aware of the use of different ways that people might need to interpret information but something that is often forgotten by adults. It makes me think of the debate between Apples vs PCs and how many say an Apple computer is more user friendly because it utilizes more 'pictorial' icons and work streams, but to some they prefer a PC because that is how they prefer to receive their information in a different presentation.

    4. different school

This concept of working with different schools is so inspiring. I feel like here different preschools never collaborate unless they are in the same franchise. It is so interesting the public vs private sector-ness.

    5. aware

A good thing to constantly check-in on: what are our preconceived notions around this topic? I thought it was interesting in the game board project the BJS did, but they were able to overcome it by simply bringing it back around to the children and asking questions.

    6. images of cities

I started to ask myself these same questions as I was reading through this...how would I answer these questions. It is so interesting that you could put these same queries to the parents, the community, the teachers as well as the kids.

    7. know and don’t know

This struck me because so many times I think that is actually part of my motivation to ask questions when beginning a topic of research - to find out what we know and what we want to learn. But to remember to take that deeper and use it as a basis of further conversation and dialogue and reflection is so important.
