    1. A Christian patient with terminal cancer requests continued life-sustaining treatment despite a poor prognosis, believing that healing is possible through prayer and God’s will.

This could be offensive. Based on how it is written, it is assuming that a poor prognosis means you shouldn't get life-sustaining treatments.

    1. some cultures, religious leaders or elders may play a central role in important decision

Maybe give some specific examples of which ones and how that relates to healthcare.

    1. care facilities have administrative responsibilities as well as duties to physically and technologically protect client information. Often, a security officer is designated to oversee written policies and procedures, to identify potential cybersecurity threats and plan corrective actions, and to provide employee training on privacy and security practices. Physical measures include secure passwords, leveled authorized access (i.e., providers have access based on their role and licensure), employee access procedures (e.g., locking computers when away from them), and surveillance equipment to protect computer systems. Technical safeguards protect computer data through firewalls, encryption, high-tech access procedures such as facial or voice recognition, audit trails to track workers’ use of information, and frequent data backups to be able to recover files if the system goes down or is breached (Niedzwiecki, 2024).

Wasn't HIPAA and the safeguards discussed in a prior chapter? Maybe refer to that chapter and not repeat content.

    1. Competing Priorities in Acute Care

Imagine a high school student reading this. They are some of the students reading this. Will they know what 8/10 pain or 2L nasal cannula, or what a good oxygen sat is? This is very high level.

    2. How should the RN prioritize these competing demands? Which patient requires immediate attention and why?

Do the students even have enough information to know what each of these patients are dealing with? This seems very high level for an introductory textbook.

    1. Regulation

This entire page seems very high level for Chapter 1. Is there a way to decrease the readability level and simplify the content?
