    1. I’m the person who has to prove everyone wrong, constantly. Constantly.”

Cardi B has overcome obstacles that were given to her constantly yet every time she conquers it. She has become a resilient powerful woman that shows everyone how it's done. She knows she is that woman who can be herself and still win. She has become an inspiration to many women out in the world.

    2. He said he had started to think about his mother, Rosie, a Mexican American activist and proud Chicana who was prominent in Latino civil rights struggles in the 60s and 70s.

This quote stood out to me because he comes from a similar background to me. Which is why the author uses that quote to have the readers compare themselves to them. This leads the readers supporting the 'twins'.

    3. People don’t really talk about what you go through after pregnancy. Like, they don’t tell you that you get stitches down there or that your first two weeks you’re constipated. Or that you get contractions because of breastfeeding. I wasn’t expecting that. When Kulture was born, I felt like I was a kid again; everything was making me cry, and I needed a lot of love. I be feeling like, Do babies know who’s they mom? I feel like babies love whoever is giving them the milk, and I want to give the milk the whole time. I want her to know me.”

Her quote shows the reality of a mother, having to deal with pains and wanting to be loved after creating a little human. A mother never wants to lose the opportunity to have your baby around you at all times and that's exactly what she is saying.

    4. Everybody around me was like, ‘No, this never happened before. Every artist that had a baby, they already put in years in the game. This is your first year. You’re going to mess it up. How are you going to make it?’

I love how Cardi B proved everyone wrong. She had her baby and is successful and she actually made it with a baby on her arms. Being successful doesn't mean to follow everyone's steps sometimes success comes to those who go their own tracks.

    1. You are still the writer—don’t relinquish control. But make your appearances useful

Having to follow rules doesn't necessarily mean you're not in charge of what and how you tell your story. A story needs organization and needs to be well presented so the readers can get engaged easily.

    2. Writing is a public trust

People believe whatever is written because it's true to them in some aspects. The public will support whatever statement that encourages their own personal believes. This leads me to believe that the people will support and trust whoever has the same beliefs as them.

    3. When you get people talking, handle what they say as you would handle a valuable gift.

When people speak without a filter their true selves come out, which should be treated as a gift. Everyone's opinion is just as valuable as yours. That is why this quote stood out to me because I understand where the author is coming from.

    4. As soon as a writer steps in, everyone else’s experience becomes secondhand.

This quote stood out to me because it's true, once an author writes about a story everyone else is just a secondhand opinion. Their experience isn’t what the reader cares about, now it's about what the author wants them to care about if that makes sense.

    5. This is a person talking to the reader directly, not through the filter of a writer

When writing people usually use this “filter” because they’re afraid of saying the “wrong” thing. The author doesn’t actually mean talking to the readers directly it just means that the author is being raw with his emotions in his own words.

    1. The truth is that you will die anyway and that a lot of people who aren’t even looking at their feet are going to do a whole lot better than you, and have a lot more fun while they’re doing it.

Perfection won't ever be achieved and I love how the author explains it. Sometimes we get caught up on the wrong things and miss the opportunity to succeed with out stressing to achieve the only thing that is impossible to achieve.

    2. It was really about opening our insides in front of everyone. Just like writing is.

Lunch wasn't only about eating it was the way people judged your circumstances and assumed things about you. So that is the reason this quote stood out to me the most because it is true. You're exposing yourself to everyone around you and for some people, they don't like feeling vulnerable and don't enjoy being open to many people. That's why I believe she is comparing school lunches with writing because it's easier to understand how it feels to be so open and exposed.

    3. Why do they think they need permission to write about the experiences and feelings they know best—their own?

This quote stood out to me the most because it relates to my writing. Most people, including myself, stop writing whatever it was we had in mind because we assume that it is wrong. Why do we stop? As if we need permission to write our stories. It's because we want it perfect so we want our "teacher" to approve because a teacher is supposed to always be right.

    1. We each have our records

By saying we each have our records, it's representing the fact that we all have a different past. We are all different, so this poem is ending with this strong quote to show exactly that. Not all men put lovers before their child and not all mothers put their child over their lover.

    2. s it folklore, the assumption that a man will choose a lover over his children and that a mother her children over her lover?

She is saying that "the assumption that a man will always put a lover over his child and that a mother will choose her child over her lover" is an understatement. Considering that she mention the assumption as a "folklore" proves that she doesn't believe in the statement most people believe in.

    3. In this, the man and I, we are equivalent.

In her quote "In this, the man and I, we are equivalent" is trying to portray the fact that her and the man she is with are the same. They both equally put their child first.

    1. gave it fruit and seeds

Means that the name now has flourished, by giving 'fruit and seeds'. The 'fruit' is the new generation and the 'seeds' are the ones to come.

    2. but don’t want to inherit her place by the window.

The window symbolizes the 'view of her freedom', therefore receiving her name is all she inherit. Receiving the misery and the feeling of being captured is the only difference they will have.

    3. She was a horse woman too, born like me in the Chinese year of the horse

The 'horse' that she refers, symbolizes enthusiasm and energy in the Chinese calendar.

    4. It is like the number nine

What she means by saying its the number nine she means it is an odd number, so she referring her name as an odd name
