      creativity is like a "muscle that needs to be worked in order to stay healthy". when we don't give children times to be creative, that ability to think outside of the box will diminish

      i like this idea of students looking at themselves and what they say from the outside. This helps to create the image of learner and important participant in the classroom.

      I like how the teacher didn't tell her where she should be sitting but rather asked her a question AND asked her to show her response. that way the child can be confident in her answer and see how her drawing doesn't match

      I think that meetings between teachers are very important because actions can be missed and you may learn something from a teacher that explains that students actions in your classroom

      I feel like this happens a lot due to our preset curriculum. Teachers want to make impactful messages and lessons to our students, however the standardized learning always comes first

      when I started doing this in the hallway students would be so excited to see themselves. this is something I want to continue to do, while also adding personal quotations

      I would like this to be a normalized occurrence in the art room. so many times I find out that my students have artist parents and wish that there were ways that they felt more comfortable being apart of the classroom and sharing their expertise

      I like the concept of being fully present in the learning. However, each learning experience is different for each student. Often times there are many activities happening at once. How do teacher commit themselves to being listener as the class size grows?

      I like the idea that your teaching style might change from class to class, year to year. What works for some students may not work for another - there is both fluidity and flexibility in teaching

      I like the idea of thinking about the roles of both the teacher and learner together. its important to think about the relationship the two have and how learning can happen when that bond is strong

    1. specific questions are best explored when the children are in a context relevant

      how can I give all students the opportunity to ask these questions about the moment? giving students opportunities to ask each other questions and answer?

      this is so true. remembering to take the time and see life in the Childs eye will bring so much more creativity and joy to adult mundane tasks

      this is something I am alway trying to remind myself. It is so easy to get wrapped up in flying past content to fit a schedule but its makes such a difference by giving students time to think and express themselves and also time to listen to other students

      I like how the teacher took into account how deeply students felt "being small" rather than accepting this as being just the way it is. Great example of listening and finding understanding

      I like the idea of giving students different ways to communicate thought. this gives students who are nonverbal a chance to represent themselves without feeling ostersized

      it is important to remember this when something a child says shocks or confuses you. we live in such. fast and reactive world, it is important to slow down

      this is a good reminder to be fully present during conversation. I like the idea of using all your senses to listen.

    1. make sure that parentsunderstand the importance of what the teachers

      involving parents in the learning will create conversations about learning at home, bring new ideas into the classroom discussions

      this is so true and something I want to remind myself to be mindful of. it is so easy to get wrapped up in other worries or what needs to be done next that often the present time isn't enjoyed. I want to take that time to be fully present for my students

      I have never thought of this. Often times I spend so much time trying to get everything just right so that students get as much out of the class time - maybe handing some of this role to the students

      I think that this sometimes can be overlooked in a school. It is so important that the staff has built relationships with each other so that everyone feels they are working together towards a common goal - the education and whole being of our children. students can pick up of when staff is not working together and that does not build the community that is essential to school

      getting to know the students and families on a personal will help us better know how to teach our students and how they learn, their emotional capacity effects their learning

      this is really interesting. when educators in the building are not connected and working together we are modeling to our students that they should do the same.

      this is so true. Students can sense when something is not "right" and often times will act differently because of this. This goes to show how emotionally capable children are

    8. This is very reminiscent of the theories of CRT. It is important to look at students as children and just that. Not giving them labels and giving them the space and support to find themselves

      love the idea of keeping art an important role in learning outside of the main studio. working with classroom teachers is a great way to make sure that students are constantly using they creative brain and working it like a muscle

      I find that when posing a general art question the responses I get are so varied and unique making the art room such a fun place to be. I want learning to to occur through experimentation and applaud mistakes as that leads to amazing outcomes

      there are so many running parts of a whole child education and I like the idea of them running as a system. Each may play a different role, but each is essential to each others success

      I think that it is so important that the parents play a role in their child education. this helps students bring new perspectives into the classroom, and also learn how to challenge perspective that don't suit them both at home and in school. I wonder what parent participation could look like in an art classroom?

      the classroom teachers observations help lead to new ideas and theories. teachers are the ones that have direct contact in the learning and need to share what they are seeing in order to inform new ideas
