    1. In short, they matter.

This sentence had a strong impact on me. All things matter whether they are good or bad. As long as we are able to take in the bad and turn them into life lessons, indigenous countries and people and thrive and hope for a smarter future.

    2. W < ,111'1 acknowledge these problems without also directly acknow 1•tlging the colonial violence in which they're imbedded.

It is my belief that Hawaii and most of the problems that exist in Hawaii was caused by direct influence and coercion from the settlers. Hawaii was a very beautiful country that was illegally annexed by the United States and was forced into this state along side many other indigenous countries. I believe Hawaii still has a chance to gain it's freedom as long as the freedom fighters don't stop.

    3. According to this story, Indigenous peoples are in a state of constant lack: in morals, laws, culture, restraint, language, ambition, hygiene, desire, love

People I have met in the past when I first joined the military were always making assumptions about places without any research or experience. When I was in the continental United States, fellow soldiers would ask me if Hawaiians still lived in grass huts wearing grass skirts all because of stereotypes. My response to them would always be "Hawaii is the same as any other country except, Hawaii has deeper roots than America."

I can relate to how the author is able to take one message and change the passage to make it relate to another message. In this case, Sir Isaac Newtons' law was turned into a message a storyteller/reader is able to relate to. I was impressed by the different stories that I read gave me a different perspective on storytelling.

This passage of the story of Charm made me realize that the world is made by our own hands. Our future is created from our own actions and how much effort we put into our life. "I can build my own future and make it anyway I want as long as I try" is the message I got out of the story.

This quote reminds me of how an author/storyteller gives us a good cliffhanger. An ending at the end of each part that draws us in even more as the story goes on. I especially liked the cliffhanger with this story, because of the roller coaster of emotions that went on and the ending that I would predict kept on changing as the story kept going.
