      The "Divine Comedy South" I found here on the Internet seems like Dante's The Divine Comedy, a famous long poem written by the Italian poet Dante Aligieri in the 14th century. He described the journey of the soul between hell and heaven (Alighieri, 1320/2003). Linney's title might be hinting at a satirical or symbolic journey to hell of Southern culture or figures. The connection between the two clearly shows that the communication between the two characters in the play is revealing the darkness of human nature.
