    1. It has to be made bright, the skin of this planet   till it shines in the sun like gold leaf.   Archangels then will attend to its metals   and polish the rods of its rain.

This expresses that Planet Earth is absolutely sacred and deserving of the utmost care and attention. The "skin of the planet" I feel is referring to the planet as a individual entity in need of tending, as one would with a child. The imagery of the gold leaf portrays a richness and brilliance and delicacy. The divinity of the archangels I feel refers to the celestial protection needed to safeguard and preserve our beautiful planet.

    2. It has to be loved as if it were embroidered  with flowers and birds and two joined hearts upon it.   It has to be stretched and stroked.   It has to be celebrated.

I feel this emphasizes a deep emotional devotion to Planet Earth, it's compared to fabric being embroidered with beauty such as birds and flowers signifying that our planet is a massive work of art. The stretching and stroking and celebration would imply a sense of deep connection and care and love. It asks us to embrace and cherish this planet, it's our only one and almost a call to action to ensure it's preservation.

    3. The trees must be washed, and the grasses and mosses.   They have to be polished as if made of green brass.   The rivers and little streams with their hidden cresses   and pale-coloured pebbles   and their fool's gold   must be washed and starched or shined into brightness,   the sheets of lake water   smoothed with the hand

This represents our world and nature as something fragile and quite precious that requires constant care and protection. The imagery of the "polishing and washing" of the grasses and trees and stones expresses to me as the world being one complete entity to be loved and cherished. The mention of "sheets of lake water" and "foam of the oceans" reflects the desire and ability to wash the world clean and restore the world to a fresh state.

    4. Seraphim will stop singing hosannas  to shower it with blessings and blisses and praises   and, newly in love,

This immediately spoke to me as divine, Seraphim would be seen as angelic and expresses a pause for grace, with Seraphims typically being "angelic beings" The line of "blessings and blisses and praises" seems to express a bestowing of a blessing to all and a sense of devotion to something greater than all of us. The "newly in love" I feel invokes a sense of passion and the fire inside, the powerful emotion of love that reflects affections towards our world.

    5. O this great beloved world and all the creatures in it.  It has to be spread out, the skin of this planet.

I feel these sentences express deep respect for our world and the life that surrounds it and calls it home, I believe it expresses a sense of love and belonging. The “great beloved world” shows admiration, while “all the creatures” is a way of showing inclusivity. The second sentence portrays an imagery of the Earth as being vast and fragile, asking us to deep reverence for the world and its creatures, highlighting a sense of love and interconnectedness. The phrase “great beloved world” suggests admiration and gratitude, while “all the creatures” emphasizes inclusivity. The second line evokes imagery of the Earth as something vast yet delicate, urging us to protect it and all within it. I feel it asks us to explore, appreciate, and protect the planet’s beauty and life.
