    1. “preferences” for the dichotomies that make up those attitudes and functions

I continue to see the word "dichotomies" throughout this article. Does the word refer to the lettering and attributes of the "16" personality types in MBTI, or does it mean something else?

    2. We strongly speculate that, unless given explicit reasons not to, even the best students in psychology might become converts to MBTI once it is brought up in their organization after graduating, as much work on educational psychology highlights the difficulty that people have in linking concepts learned in class to “real-world” situations (Chinn & Brewer, 1993).

Why did MBTI become so big when there are other personality tests that are verified? Back in high school, the MBTI was basically the only personality assessment test that kids knew. For any career-type class we went through the test, and anytime we were trying to see what jobs best suited us we were pointed to this test. Out of all the verified personality tests, why was this one so mainstreamed?

    3. This combination of letters/functions forms the basis of the 16 personality types, which represent an interaction of the preferences a person subconsciously espouses.

Based off of this, do they think that there are only going to be 16 different possibilities for our personalities to shape? I feel as though there should be many more due to the fact of how varying someone's personality could be from those with the same letters. We may just represent them differently, but I feel as though many other factors go into the personality.

    4. continued scrutiny is warranted. Criticisms of the MBTI from the past few decades (e.g., Pittenger, 2005) have focused on several of its problems

What were the problems? Just looking at the surface of it (no other research), it appears fine. It touches base on many of the different personality groups, and I've gotten the same exact scores 3 different times, when I've done them with years in between.

    5. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has existed in a parallel universe to social and personality psychology.

Why was the MBTI such a big thing or trusted so much? When did it officially become a big thing?
