He took them! This must be for the experiment they were talking about earlier, but I wonder what role the ymbrynes play in it? Not a good one, I'm sure.

Jacob seems to becoming more and more like his grandfather, almost like he is actually becoming him!

    3. “Iwantyoutoknowsomething,”Isaid.“Ifwemakeitthroughthis,I’mstaying.”

I wonder what made Jacob finally decide to stay? Maybe it was seeing that the wights were real, and knowing the he couldn't escape after all.

    4. DidIconsiderit?IsupposeImusthave,ifonlyforamoment

Jacob can't agree! If he did, he would be giving up his friends! And I'm sure he wouldn't just be traveling the world. There is probably some other horrible job he would be helping them with!

I KNEW there was something suspicious about him! Oh, wow, Jacob told him exactly where to find him!

He's definitely a wight. How else could he know so much about them? And wow, their stories are hard! No wonder they ran away to live with Miss Peregrine!

    7. butIwastheonlyonewhocouldhearthedeadman.Thefirstthinghesaidwasmyname.

Jacob can hear the dead man? I wonder if this is part of his ability, or maybe he's just the only one close enough. Still, this is really interesting, and I wonder how it relates to being able to see the monsters.

Ewwww. This is so gross! I mean, I know that a hollow got him, so it had to be pretty bad, but...still!

    9. Herubbedhishandstogether.“ThenIknowhowwecanbesure.”“Andhow’sthat?”saidMillard.“We’llaskhim

This does NOT seem like a good idea, but I am really curious about what killed Martin! But they're bound to get caught, either by Miss Peregrine, or worse, the hollows and wights!

    10. Butifyouinsistonleavinghere,thenIinsistyouneverreturn.”

This is a huge choice for Jacob to make! I can't imagine having to give up everything you ever have known!

    11. herbloodshoteyesrangingoverme.

Miss Peregrine seems really worried, and she hasn't even heard Jacob's news yet! Maybe she got bad news or something, but it has to be important.

    12. Lordknowswhatbusinesshehadbein’outbythemcliʃsinthedeadofnightinjusthisrobeandtrolleys.”“Heweren’tdressed?”Kevasked.“Dressedforbed,maybe,”saidthefisherman.“Notforawalkinthewet.

The fact that he wasn't dressed makes this even more suspicious! What kind of person goes walking around at night in their pajamas? I definitely think the hollows took him!

I'm worried about Martin. I wonder if the hollows took him, and if so, why? I always got the impression that he knew something Jacob didn't, maybe even about the peculiars!

Jacob's dad really is falling on hard times. Jacob is being introduced to an amazing, beautiful world, but it seems like his dad is falling farther and farther from his own. It's also interesting, and sad, what he says about his wife leaving him. I wonder if this has anything to do with her rant Jacob heard on the phone shortly before he left. I love how Riggs incorporates real world problems into a world of fantasy!

I think that in this situation, I would go with the peculiar children, but only after I told my parents everything. However, my parents aren't really like Jacob, so it is a lot harder to imagine leaving them. I wonder how long Jacob would last if he went on his own?

    16. Abe could see the monsters! This must have been why the monsters, or whoever killed him, were trying so hard to find him! I'm sure Jacob has that talent too, since he could see the one that killed his grandfather. Hmm. This skill is really valuable, so I wonder if the children and Miss Peregrine will want him to stay with them. He could protect them in a way no one else could.

    17. I really don't think Jacob should be going through Emma's stuff! It could sacrifice their relationship, and her trust. Also, she isn't the only one, or the main one keeping things from him.

    18. Inoch is really creepy, especially since he is a little boy. It is so twisted how much he seems to enjoy controlling, and annilhating, his clay men. I wonder if he is doing this because he didn't have that kind of control before he came to the children's home, and he is making up for it now. It also may be something he learned from someone he knew in his past life…or has heard of. He kind of reminds me of the way Hitler controlled his people, but on a much smaller scale.

    19. Miss Peregrine does not seem at all pleased with Jacob about his conversation with the Wards. I think this is because she doesn't want them trying to leave the loop and...suffering the same fate as the apple.

This doesn't seem right...I wonder if the author is hinting what will happen to Emma and the others if they try to leave the loop. Whatever the case, I don't think Jacob should be shrugging it off.

This is...intense. But it is also a very powerful part, thinking about all that pain. I think Riggs does a really good job showing how evil and careless people can be sometimes, in this passage.

    2. Hmmm. This quote is really interesting. I came back here after reading the first two chapters, and Emerson is the man whose books Jacob was reading, trying to make sense of his grandfather's last words. (and then he drooled all over the book and got thrown out of the library for screaming after having a nightmare. XD)
