    1. Jane Addams was the youngest of eight children born into a prosperous northern Illinois family of English-American descent which traced back to colonial Pennsylvania.

To me it's memorizing that she was the youngest of eight siblings but she was the one that got her name out there and made a difference instead of the older ones.

    2. Educated women of her generation wished "not to be a man nor like a man" but claim "the same right to independent thought and action." Each young woman was gaining "a new confidence in her possibilities, and a fresher hope in her progress"

I loved reading this part, women didn't really have it easy back then when it came to education, and to see that not only did the education start to grow but she did it right there in Rockford.

    3. 1931 Addams became the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

I find this amazing not only was she fighting for world peace but she was the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace prize. Which means she has to put in a tremendous amount of work to win.

    1. The populations of developed but also developing nations are becoming increasingly inactive, and increasing proportions of populations do not meet physical activity (PA) guidelines.

If this is true, do you think that as we get older and we see more people unhappy maybe it's caused by this? The lack of PA? This world has become more technology based and isn't active as much so maybe it is the lack of PA making people unhappy.

    2. This includes improved social interaction and self-esteem, fewer depressive symptoms (Eime et al., 2013b), better prosocial behavior, and less internalizing problems

This is a great point. I've noticed when I am active or a part of a team sport I become more social to the world around me. I'm not sure if it's a self-esteem thing or it might just be the stress and anxiety leaving the body.

    3. There is increasing evidence that participation in sport can have health benefits above and beyond the physical, and that it can significantly improve mental and social health.

I agree with this 100 percent. I've noticed that when I am active my mind seems to be clear which helps improve my mental health a lot. I don't speak for all athletes but I definitely use softball as my escape just to clear my mind.
