We all have specific interests or have unique talents. Maybe you are interested in computers, science or art. Maybe you know something about a specific topic. Whatever it is that you like or are good at, being around other people that have the same interests usually involves a different type of language that maybe other people would not be able to understand.
I like the idea that you're going for here, but I think you should try to shorten this section. The rest is good. I like how introduced the soccer discourse community. Good job

A major part of this project is to explore how scholarly research and listening to the ideas of others can inform, expand, and complicate your understandings of and experiences with the topic.
Listening to what another has to say on a topic you are not sure about or are more than informed on can help a person see differently and sometimes change their overall opinion or thoughts on said topic.

Class participation
I think class discussion boards are very helpful when it comes to an online learning environment. I just finished my first semester in December and being able to contact and keep in touch with my classmates helped me pass each class.
