    1. Had Tran really managed to troll much of the technorati for years? Or had she made up the claim because she was jealous that her creation had exceeded herself in fame and achievement?

i think it's interesting that Tran the creator is jealous of WHEEP-3 the creation it's reminiscent of how stories of the gods in greek mythos were often jealous of the accomplishments of their creations so to speak human nature is that of jealousy and and envy of those who come behind us.

But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.     Nothing farther then he uttered—not a feather then he fluttered—     Till I scarcely more than muttered “Other friends have flown before— On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before.”             Then the bird said “Nevermore.”

i think that this is his contemplation of death and life and coming to terms with with the secrets and missed opportunities that we have in life. this hypothetically important stuff appear to him as a visitor in the night an took the form of a raven the prophet of the night.

    1. I open my eyes and I’m sniffing, tears precarious. He still remembers this stupid incident, is still trying his best, even as Gerald and I fumble but also try our best. Ba is smiling shamelessly. He is looking more pleased with this taste of vengeance than with any chop suey I’ve ever seen him eat. It makes me snort and my tears turn into hiccuped laughter as Gerald looks between us, confused, mug of coffee in one hand. And even after I remove the Remote Mouth everything still tastes gross but there’s no more sushi ginger so I grab Gerald’s coffee and scorch my taste buds. But my taste buds will never forget this moment, of me and Gerald and Ba, of tastes good and bad, of brain pathways grooved into the same patterns across the three of us, and of the unforgettable desire to hold on forever.

On one occasion I actually led her all the way to a clinic, but she just shook her phone to send feedback and headed to her original destination.

    1. Without looking up, I asked for her help in tracing out the character for ai on the paper below Mom's letter. I wrote the character again and again on the paper, intertwining my pen strokes with her words. The young woman reached out and put a hand on my shoulder. Then she got up and left, leaving me alone with my mother.AdvertisementFollowing the creases, I refolded the paper back into Laohu. I cradled him in the crook of my arm, and as he purred, we began the walk home.

reflection is important the connection that he missed while his mother was alive was revived through his reflection on his past and his wrong doings, i think that this represents the future for this character that maybe he will carry on the culture his mother tried to pass to him.

    1. In reading a novel, any novel, we have to know perfectly well that the whole thing is nonsense, and then, while reading, believe every word of it. Finally, when we’re done with it, we may find—if it’s a good novel—that we’re a bit different from what we were before we read it, that we have been changed a little, as if by having met a new face, crossed a street we never crossed before. But it’s very hard to say just what we learned, how we were changed.

This article says that you cannot find truth in fiction. I strongly disagree, fiction is based on our realities; they are the fears and fantasies that we harbor in our minds and can reflect certain aspects of our society. To say that fiction and art are to be taken as lies and just that suggest that we are incapable of understanding and interpreting the metaphor that represents real life. Racism in space is still racism, using current events to try a peek at the future is not going to be accurate. The insite it can provide is however very telling. How the future looks to the individual writing the story and through this we can find the present. The lenses they see through can color the future and this glimpse of life from their perspective is important . Think about all the classic books we read in life. We don't read them for their accuracy, we read them for the insight and thought provoking ideas present.

    1. The unknowing participant in othering is a nefarious character because, in ignorance, they are comfortable and can hide from the realities of being the other. These types of people choose not to see the ugly truth of life for others, hoping that if they stay out of it, they are not part of the problem. They find safety and comfort in keeping their eyes shut to the lives of the "other". While hoping nobody is actually being hurt so they can hide in complacency out of the danger of having to do something or say something. Reluctance to see injustice makes it easier to see the "other" not as a person but as a hypothetical which is a dangerous place to stand. The other does not have feelings; it cannot feel pain, so it cannot suffer. As such, it is not worth thinking about. Justifying inaction, and now they are safe, making their home in the quiet violence of willful ignorance. Learning about the suffering of others will never be comfortable, it will never be happy, and it will never be easy, but choosing to see only the easy, the happy, and the comfortable is just as bad as looking into the face of the other and laughing at their otherness. By looking away, you let them continue. Are you will to look?

    1. Self-interrogation is a good place to start. If you see inequality as a “them” problem or “unfortunate other” problem, that is a problem. Being able to attend to not just unfair exclusion but also, frankly, unearned inclusion is part of the equality gambit. We’ve got to be open to looking at all of the ways our systems reproduce these inequalities, and that includes the privileges as well as the harms.

The idea of self interrogation, i think works in theory, although for it to be effective they have to have the awareness of a potentially dubious way of thinking. Otherwise they can find themself reinforcing that way of thinking rather than combating the idea of the hypothetical "them".
