    1. The print seems to show and give us a picture of how slaves travelled on those slave ships. Just looking at the images, you could easily tell how difficult and suffocating it was for the slaves in those sheep. The way they were placed was like a person being placed in a small grave that is not even their size. According to the illustration, the women and men were separated. The women to the left and the men to the right, in the middle, would have young boys, and they would still have more slaves on the sides of the ships. This gives you a picture of how, to a white man, black people were just products to gain more money and riches. The more they could fit in their ships, the more money they could make.

    1. The article is a description of Elaudah's experience as a slave and going through the Middle Passage. He talks about how the slaveowners were so cruel and merciless to them. On one occasion, he describes how some of the slaves were trying to do something that didn't please their owners, and they ended up getting cruel and harsh punishment of whippings. He often thought of ending his life, for he thought it was better to die than to live a life like that. During the journey of being brought to America, he describes it as a very bad experience. The place where they were being carried was very stinky and also very crowded, and many people died during the journey. The place was so suffocating and tight that someone could not even turn or stretch.
