    1. Being and becoming an exemplary person (e.g., benevolent; sincere; honoring and sacrificing to ancestors; respectful to parents, elders and authorities, taking care of children and the young; generous to family and others). These traits are often performed and achieved through ceremonies and rituals (including sacrificing to ancestors, music, and tea drinking), resulting in a harmonious society.

I agree with the idea in confucianism that learning and self-improvement is central and that anyone can become a good person through education, practice, and ceremonies. Another thing that is central to confucianism is the "golden rule" that I always remember being referenced to a lot in elementary school that you should treat others the way you want to be treated. I think its interesting how from a very young age we are taught one of the central principles of confucianism. Also another belief in confucianism is that leaders should lead through moral character instead of force, and that this type of leadership works because people imitate those above them, so if the leaders are virtuous and moral, then the people below them will be as well.

    1. Only “Can we do this?” Never “should we do this? We’ve seen that same blasé attitude in how Twitter or Facebook deal w abuse/fake news. You can’t put this stuff back in the box. Once it’s out there, it’s out there. And there are no guardians. It’s terrifying. The end.

I agree with this idea that many times a lot of these tech giants are always looking to make more profit and that they choose to release technology that could be harmful to humans just because they can and believe that it could increase their profits. I also think we've been seeing this much more recently with artificial intelligence. The leading AI companies Anthropic, OpenAI, and others have been racing to create the strongest and most powerful AI without ever thinking about should they actually be doing this and what the possible consequences are. We saw this happen with social media and companies like Meta who chose to sell user data in order to make their platform more addictive and make more money. I hope we learn from that and with future technological advancement especially with artificial intelligence that we consider like Nanjiani suggests, "'should we do this?'".
