Lear expresses his rage after being displeased with Cordelia’s response, by vanishing Kent who makes an attempt to defend her. In by doing so, he compares himself to a dragon as everyone in attendance watches.

After Cordellia’s farewell to her sisters they realize that they may be treated equally by their father or worse, since Cordelia was his favorite. They speak of a somewhat fear of their father Lear who may be reluctant to give up his power all though he has claimed to do so for his three daughters.

Does Lear mean this literally about her value as a bride, even though she is still to receive a third of the kingdom? But still she is there to be offered as a wife to Burgundy.
