The important distinction, however, is to move from the notion of ‘instructional leaders’ (which places too much emphasis on the instruction) to ‘learning leaders’ (which places the emphasis on student and adult learning).
This stood out to me because sometimes the focus is so much on covering everything in every unit and not loosing track of the timeline that is given to us to cover all the lessons instead of what did my students internalize in each lesson. Do I have to reteach something? Or can I spend more time in one concept to ensure that my students are not struggling with a concept? This brought a different perspective on the importance of using instruction with purpose.
