    1. Ralphie May and James Norton wax angrily about political correctness,

What does the author mean when talking about about waxing angrily about political correctness. I wish that there was a sentence to desribe what it means instead of continuing to talk about other comedians.

    2. Moreover, the folks clucking that this does not constitute a comedy demonstrate that who you are influences reception of satire

what does the author mean when they use the term clucking? Is it supposed to mean judging? I wish the author used a more clear example after.

    3. Thus, knowledge is another essential component in the effi-cacious transmission of satire.

I agree with Caulfored that it is important to have knowlege about different topics when using satire. For example, in the special Gadsby does a good job of making a serious topic less intense by strategically making jokes.

    1. s Bonnie Dow explains, televisioncontributes to culture in important and meaningful ways because it can define,mediate, represent, and reinforce social issues;

I agree with what Dow has to say about how Television has an affect on our culture. But I think that people get their oppions about culture from more than just what they see on T.V. I think that most people today get their infomration about things from different social medial platforms as well as what they see on T.V.

    2. I analyze how one show that is representative of this subgenre contributes to thecultural Othering of white working-class people,

what does the author mean when she says othering? Does she mean examples of. Also why is othering capitalized?

    1. hegemony is an active concept - it is something that must be ceaselessly built and rebuilt in the face of both implicit and explicit challenges to it

This is a term that I have never heard of or maybeI have and just dont realize it because I dont use it. So i found it interesting to know what it means and examples of how it is used in a sentece.

    2. a reified view of social structun

What does the author mean by a reified view of social structures? Are they saying that the first step is to have a better understanding of what is happeing socially around them?

    1. primary locations for the Ian Somerhalder Foundation’s appeals for civic action directedtowards its supporters.

Earlier in the text it mentioned that Twitter and Facebook are the major platforms where fans get information about the foundation. A question I have about that is, Do you that the Ian Somerholder Foundation would be as successful as it is today if it were to be around in a time where there was no social media to help promote things?

    2. Critics of celebrity activism assert that celebrity activism lacks substance and does a betterjob of strengthening fans’commitments to celebrities than their commitments to publicissues

I disagree with this statement because I feel that there are plenty of celebrities who do a good job seperating their celebrity from the causes they stand for. For example, Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren talk alot about a foundation called Love One International which helps give medical care to children in Uganda. Even if Thomas was not a famous country singer he would still be an active member in helping this cause. So, I think that people just being celebrtiies gives these orgainzations more attention, but even with out this celebrity helping this orgainzation, I believe that it would still be successful.

    3. As Damon’s feelings forElena grow, eventually becoming a mutual romantic relationship, Damon’s moral charac-ter shifts from antagonist to anti-hero to hero.

Although I have only seen a couple seasons of The Vampire Diaries, the way that Elena makes Damon a better person throughout the series reminds me of the character Nathan Scott from One Tree Hill changes throughout the show. For example, he was this popular kid who had it all but then met a girl who was not popular and by being with her made became a better person.

    1. have been trying to describein this chapter some of the ways in which being interested in stars is being interested in how we arc human now.

What does the author mean when they say how we arc human now? Does it mean how we percieve? I wish that the author went a little more in depth about what they meant.

    2. in the small mirror we can see the texture of the powder over foundation, the gloss of the lipstick, the pencilling of the eyebrows -we can see something of the means by which the smallerimage has been manufactured

I feel that this sentence talks about how there is more to a person than just the way they look on the outside. When reading that it made me think about how some woman wear makeup because they like creaitng new looks and expressing their artistrey. While some wear make up to cover up their insecurties. I feel that this proves that you should not judge someone based on how they look.

    3. Hollywood controlled not only the stars' films but their promotion, the pin-upsand glamour portraits, pressreleases and to a large extent the fan clubs.

Although hollywood seems all glamorous, there is more that happens behind the scenes that people do not know about. I think that this sentence perfectly desribes how Hollywood controls everything that a star does. This makes really wonder what these stars are like and not as what they are protrayed as. After reading this article, I would like to know more about the pressures that these stars face and how they deal with the false acusations made about them on a daily basis.

    1. Ethan Zuckerman (2013), an inter-net studies scholar and director of MIT’s Center for Civic Media argues “civics ischanging” in his Bellwether lecture at the Oxford Internet Institute. He points toinstances such as Kiva.org, Indiegogo, Kony 2012, and the HPA’s Hunger Gamescampaign.

I agree with Zuckerman that civics is changing. However, when taking about that I wish he explained what each topic he was talking about what is. For example, have not heard of Kiva.org or Indiegogo so I would have liked for him to talk about what it is and how it relates to his opion on how civics is changing.

    2. Founded in 2005 and growing out of the Harry Potter fandom, the HPA is anonprofit organization that uses parallels from the Harry Potter story to do social

Working for a non profit is something that I have coinsdered when I graduate. Although, I do not watch Harry Potter hearing about HPA makes me want to do more research on that type of jobs you can do when working in a non profit.
