    1. Taking regular speech and speeding it up by deleting very small segments of it, so that it sounds the same but actually goes faster, makes the same communication more persuasive

      That is very intriguing, I would have never known that, but it makes sense.

      This is something we talked about in my intro to speech class. We were told to use an icebreaker--much like Steve suggested for the beginning of our presentations--to get our audience to be interested in what we have to say and to trust us.

      This reminds me of a time in high school when my history teacher showed us a political ad campaign against a candidate and if you slow it down, the way the words come up on the screen it says, "rats" so that you associate that candidate as a rat.
