    1. What is the relation between the data we have and our objects of study? – Does data replace books, paintings and movies? In what way can data be said to be representations of them?

I don't quite understand what is meant here. While books, painting and movies may not often be categorized as vaguely as 'data' , bottom line is they all contain data and due to this they are date. Take for example horror movies or romance novels. A movie like Saw will be considered data in that category and a novel like Pride and Prejudice is data a well. All in all I believe categorizing something as data is dependent on perspective.

    1. A dataset like this is so much less interesting than the trained judgment of someone who’s seen many of these films and can turn a nuanced observation of these changes into a real argument.

Being knowledgeable of multiple parts of a data set such as films of the same genre, allows humanists to produce comprehensive arguments which is build on the foundation of studying these topics and conversations. What I get from this is that as knowledge and experience on topics benefits the judgement of those involved in conversation.

    1. Describing a resource withmetadata allows it to be understoodby both humans and machines inways that promote interoperability

This is an important characteristic of metadata as it allows resources to be stored in different sources which increases the protection of the data.

    2. Rights management meta-

This type of metadate covers the legal rights of the data being presented. This is important as digital content is at a great risk of being stolen.

    1. Code is power, and it is white and male.

White men have been the most powerful people on earth. Take for example the right to vote; one of the most powerful and fundamental things an individual can possess white men have always been allowed to vote while white women were restricted from doing so until the 1920's. More so, black people did not earn that right until the mid 1960's. Even though these groups were given the right to vote, understanding that white men made that happen is important.

    2. The internet is a tool of democracy, after all

This statement really shines on the impact of the internet in this digital age. The internet is democratic in that all parties are allowed to give their opinion, raise awareness and introduce new people to their way of thinking. However, if this democracy is misused then the detrimental effects may come to light with limited ways to contradict them.
