    1. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Even though this page is simple and doesn't have as much information than other sites, it does get to point of what TEI is and the different components to it.

    2. Prior to the creation of TEI

The history portion of the website just put into perspective that TEI isn't that old of an idea and it has transformed editing but also became adaptable to society.

    3. The choice tag is used to represent sections of text which might be encoded or tagged in more than one possible way. In the following example, based on one in the standard, choice is used twice, once to indicate an original and a corrected year and once to indicate an original and regularised spelling

I like that they put a description of what a choice tag is because it is apart of the guidelines but I didn't really know what it is or the purpose of it. Also, they show how to use a choice tag.

    4. Text Encoding Initiative

I like the links to different sites to explain what text-centric is or to edit the prose tags

    5. Prose tags

I like that it give us an example of how we use tags because it is informative and makes up for the lack of information provided above the example (the definition).

    1. XML Examples

The examples do need to be a bit longer but also if they are going to make it short, they should explain what the tags are (for those who haven't used XML before) and why you would use certain tags verses other encoding tags.

    2. XML Tutorial

I think that having the examples are helpful but the advertisements are distracting and there is a little description about XML tutorial. A suggestion would be to have a video or something in order to explain what XML is and how you go about using it.

    3. I approve of XML displaying these examples because it does apply to what we are currently doing in class, with tagging and how to use the tags.

    1. v. A Gentle Introduction to XML

To explain what XML is and how to encode and markup, it would be beneficial to have an example document linked or have that on the webpage itself explaining step by step how to encode/markup a document like the one we are doing for TYI.

    1. "The fox said," Do not shoot me, for I will give you good counsel; I know what your business is, and that you want to find the golden bird. You will reach a village in the evening; and when you get there, you will see two inns opposite to each other, one of which is very pleasant and beautiful to look at: go not in there, but rest for the night in the other, though it may appear to you to be very poor and mean.' But the son thought to himself, 'What can such a beast as this know about the matter?'"

The wisdom portrayed by the fox is important because in our life, wisdom like that comes to us from the strangest of places and when we do not listen to that wisdom we suffer. Sometimes, we do not think that we are suffering because of the pleasure we feel but later on when the consequences are presented, then we understand our suffering. The fox is a symbol of the wisdom that we experience in our lives that we should not take for granted because we never know when that wisdom would save our life.
