    1. I like to serve  the people. If they appreciate it, fine. If they don’t appreciate it, fine. If they give me thanks, OK. If they don’t give me thanks, there is one that thanks me for what I’m doing here. That is God.

This idea to serve the people regardless if they appreciate it or not reminds me of the values held in Under The Feet Od Jesus.

    2. I think the Central Valley and Mexico have a lot in common in terms of water, and it was really inspiring to see that connection in Mexico City.  I was hugely inspired by the mobilizing.  They did a big marcha and it was endless.  It was like thousands and thousands of people who marched for, I don't know, 15 miles, but it seemed like a never ending snake of people. The indigenous movement in Mexico was so apparent in this march - it was inspiring.  To see the indigenous people in Mexico guiding the march, talking about the issues of privatization of water and contamination... it just hit home.

It seems hard to be noticed even when you have large groups of people are protesting if the government wont do anything to help. I think this is a huge issue that is faced today.

    3. There are small children that drink the water when the mother is busy elsewhere, and they get sick to their stomach. What can one to do? One is busy doing something, the kid drank, and later he’ll be sick and the mothers don’t even know why until they say they drank water from the faucet. The water from the faucet comes out mornings looking yellowish, right? Like the faucet outside, which, when you don’t turn it on for two or three days, the water comes out brownish for a long time, right? I don’t know why it comes out like that at the beginning. I don’t know what’s in the water because after two days of not turning on the faucet then the water comes out like that. I don’t think that’s normal, right? That’s the situation

This water quality is so bad that children are thirsty and becoming sick. This is a huge issue that needs to be fixed because children cant always be watched.

    4. I’m a registered voter and I pay taxes.  So why are you slicing the pie over there and we’re not getting any of the pie?  We need a piece of the American pie too... we’re here.  We’re here.

This reminds me of Under The Feet Of Jesus because it has an underlying feeling that they're benefiting others while not receiving anything in return. And people don't really seem to care.

    5. The Water Board says that we needn’t do anything, that we can use the water, yet if you read the fine print they also say that if you drink this water for an extended period you risk getting cancer...

I think that it's interesting how easy it can be to put large groups of people in danger by false accusations of what is and isn't healthy.

    6. A plan to hit Californians with a first-of-its-kind statewide tax on drinking water is on ice, for now. The proposed tax would cost most Californians about $1 per month on their residential water bills. Businesses would pay $4 to $10 per month. Although California voters just approved another $4 billion in bonds including funds for clean water, and the November ballot will ask voters to approve about $8 billion more, Gov. Jerry Brown says it wasn’t enough...

I find this to be quite interesting because although it's just approximately $1 more each month, it's much more complicated than that.
