Cremation dates from at least 17,000 years ago[2][3] in the archaeological record, with the Mungo Lady, the remains of a partly cremated body found at Lake Mungo, Australia.
Seems to be a very common practice in other cultures. some cultures may have practiced cremation longer than the ancient Indians?
