      This creates an idea for the reader that the original colonist would have not made and that the colonization of America would fail. However the opposite was happening, they were flourishing and expanding.

      I feel as though most people that went West had the same outcome because they all went for gold. Some were very lucky but most were not, without gold and large colonies most travelers tried to create a colony but failed.

      I like how the used the word fluidity to describe early America because most colonizer chose what they want to do when they want to do. For example they had the choice to move out west or stay on the east coast. I also feel like fluidity allows for growth, which is what the early stages of the building of America was.

      I believe that the people of color that wanted to enlist should be able to, but not as a substitute. They should have been an addiction to help the military grown and have more brave men that want to defend the country.

    2. I would prefer to live by ourselves, for there is a prejudice against us in the South that will take years to get over; but I do not know that I can answer for my brethren.

      This is a very sting and accurate statement because even though they were free the prejudice and segregation still continued for years

    3. We want to be placed on land until we are able to buy it and make it our own.

      I think that this is a very valuable and reasonable ask because this land allows them to have a place to create a community of their own. They can have their own ideas and practice what they wish without being hassled.
