      I think it's interesting how women were doing the brunt work of early computer programming. During this decade, I know it was difficult for women to hold high clearance jobs in the world of science and engineering. It makes me think of how proud these women must have felt to be such a driving factor in the world of programming.

      In the world of ethics and care as well as relational ethics, I think about a theory I learned about in the communications department. The Knapp's Staircase theory, explaining that any relationship is always at a different stage of coming together, bonding/relational maintenance, and coming apart. I think in this view of ethics it can be applied to relationships with strangers like a coffee shop barista you see for only 10 minutes, or someone like a romantic partner where you are often together and continuing the bond.
