    1. Later, retelling stories about this dynamic to, my ~ife, my therapist, the occasional friend, filled me with incandescent rage. And after that decision has been made, what do we do with people who attempt to construct their own vision of justice?

      Machado's childhood she was seen as "Melodramatic" and "a drama queen". The readers can see how these "identifiers" upset Machado. Then again they would upset anyone. These "identifiers" are negative yet they are positive. For instance "Drama Queen" dropping Drama, Queen is the most appropriate name for someone of royalty. Machado brings up her childhood to backup why she is the way she is. Yet, does her narration bring truth.

    1. You tried to tell your story to people who didn't know how to listen.

      This reminds me of the last chapter of "This is how you lose her". Although it is about someone else, there is a realization of their life. With all the actions that occur, the words don't mean anything. In other words, actions speak louder than words. The narrator does have pity for the other person but there is only so much that the narrator does feel.

    1. You used to run in the old days and you fi gure you need something to keep you out of your head. You must have needed it bad, because once you get into the swing of it you start run-ning four fi ve six times a week. It’s your new addiction.

      Yunior needs something new to keep his adrenaline running. It’s an easy way to keep his mind occupied with something else other than women. Although later Yunior does suffer from multiple health issues, he later figures out what might be best for him.

    1. This is the moment of realization that he is just like the other men of his family. Although he did wish that it could have skipped its impossible because that is all that Yunior was seeing within his family. Children always follow adults, never really knowing if its a bad thing or not. Yunior realizes its bad way too late.
