This reminds me of how when we talked in class with state vs federal treaties. That if the treaty was never signed off by federal government than the document being presented has little to no meaning.
Its interesting to hear from a primary source what the Penobscot river was like. Growing up in Maine I've never heard of it being a vast and plentiful place to catch Salmon, but it makes sense because he believes its all the "macheens" and "evil" that came around in 1809 and took notice in the decline in 1813, and only worsening from the date of this writing in 1822.
pg 132. I find it very interesting that they are still taught the dominant English language before theirs or with their mother tongue because it makes it even harder for them to comprehend and understand both languages. Which may give themselves a poor self image.
