      His way of coping with emotion or other things seems to be comedy or some sort of sarcastic remark.

      At this point I can see that the teacher is ready to crush their "back to school" confidence, by being mean or judgmental and let them know she is the boss.

      This line is great for many reasons. It tells us how hard it is to learn another language due to all the things you need to understand you cannot. He takes a funny approach on this line making it all the better.

      sometimes its hard to understand the genre of a writing. it makes more sense to think that it is the type of writing

    2. We read a recipe to learn how to bake lasagna. We read the sports page to see if our school won the game, Facebook to see who has commented on our status update, a history book to learn about the Vietnam War, and the syllabus to see when the next writing assignment is due.

      Its always interesting to be told what we are doing. When you realize that reading can be purely to learn, it can drastically take the fun out of it. And when someone tells you how you read, it can really change the way you will read next.

    3. I read all the time. I read for my classes and on the computer and sometimes for fun, but I never really thought about the important connections between reading and writing

      I personally do not like reading at all. I learn much better from viewing things visually, but this statement proves that reading is dominant for learning things.
