This was a fascinating article to read. Its quite comprehensive to read and content wise it is intriguing due the many frame of references and theories when it comes to employee relations. Some of which is appealing to my beliefs and others were as equally interesting as well.

I love that Keith Abbott spend some time to touch on that theories are simply "theories". They exist to explain things but not everything. Kudos to him in giving a guide on how to apply theories in reality

This struggle is caused by inequalities in the distribution of wealth and the skewed owner-ship of the means of production. Wealth and property ownership, he observed, were highly concen-trated in the hands of a small number of bourgeoisie (or capitalists), whilst the vast mass of the prole-tariat (or workers) lived in poverty and had nothing to sell but their labour. The dominant capitalist class controlled the levers of political and economic power and was forced to exploit the working class by extorting ‘surplus value’ from their labour.
This text reminded me how Jeff Bezos and the higher-ups in Amazon treat their workers during the pandemic. If I remember correctly they even try to stop a union within the workers in Amazon
