They say bad things happen for a reasonBut no wise words gonna stop the bleedin'
This lyrics emphasises how anguished the singer is and how he is convinced that no advice/anyone can help mend the mental suffering his going through. The word "bleeding" signifies the deteriorating mental state of the singer and that he is depressed. This reminds me of the theme of depression, to which you feel that theres no hope anymore in the world and theres no point of living. This shows how important his ex is to him

What am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up that you're okay?
This lyrics here conveys the shock and dismay of the singer to know that his former lover is totally fine after the breakup. The lyric of "choked up that your okay" shows this. Normally someone who is okay is a good thing but the singer choking up over a good thing shows how disillusioned the singer is over the fact that a event that was so traumatic to him is so unimportant to her.
-
What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you?
This yet highlights how much the singers ex means to him in his life, the singer asking her what is he supposed to do when he is giving his all to her. But she doesn't appreciate it and broke up with him in the end shows how the love was one-sided as a person who makes a possibly substantial amount of sacrifices for their lover is truly in my opinion, the greatest expression of love.
-
While I'm wide awake, she's no trouble sleepin'
This highlights how the ex is unaffected by the breakup while the singer is. I can see from the evidence of the singer being "wide awake" in contrast with the ex having "no trouble sleepin'" The singer is in so much distress over the breakup that he cant sleep while the ex who finds the breakup insignificant in her life, has moved on already and is able to have "no trouble sleepin'". Shows the fact that the relationship between the two of them was one sided. This reminds me of the theme of love, and how caring and cherishing someone so deeply even though they dont treat you the same back will greatly affect you if a breakup happens.

Her best days will be some of my worst
This contradiction shows how the singer is upset over her happiness being with another guy. People's "best days" tend to be a joyful occurrence that a individual would certainly remember for a long time while in the opposite end, people's "worst days" tend to be because of terrible circumstances which can negatively impact someone for a span of time. So the singer singing how "Her best days will be some of my worst" shows how he is envious over being unable to be with her in her happy moments. This reminds me of the theme of jealously, when a person is jealous of someone they will be upset and have their thoughts covered with a cloud of emotions. making the person feel overhwhelmed and even worse.

'Cause when a heart breaks, no, it don't break even
This repeated lyric at the end of each verse conveys how the singer believes that in each breakup, the two people in the relationship would be affected in a way so both parties won't equally feel bad that they broke up. This is because from his own personal experience of being affected by a breakup, one person was happier while the other is sadder after it. Showing how when heart breaks "no it dont breakeven"
-
Just prayed to a God that I don't believe in
This words show how the singer is in so much pain that he is willing to give up his own beliefs to attempt other peoples way to find a sense of peace. The fact that the singer never thought of praying to the respective religion "god" to seek hope before shows how severe the breakup is to him and is desperate to get over it and move on. It reminds me on the theme of acceptance. A person who goes through a painful moment or event that is life affecting will definitely find ways to accept the pain and consequences it brought them to get inner peace.

I'm still alive but I'm barely breathin'
The metaphor shows how the singer is suffering and is mentally exhausted from the overwhelming emotions of losing his girlfriend. i can see this from "i'm barely breathin'." to which the singer is "grasping for air" which is important to our survival and is barely hanging on, it signifies his struggle. it reflects on the theme of loss, it shows how a person handles the loss of losing a beloved person in his life. which is ironic as throughout the rest of the song, the lyrics describe how the person he broke up with seemed to move on rather quickly.
-
Oh, you got his heart and my heart and none of the pain
This lyrics shows how the the singers ex has captured both the singers and her current lover's love and attention. However the lyric also mentions that the ex never "got the pain" unlike the singer, which is meant to associate with the well known fact that the ex isn't influenced by the breakup. Emphasising how the relationship was one-sided love
-
I'm fallin' to pieces
repetition of the metaphor throughout the song emphasises how the singer has been hurt so many times and feels that he is breaking into small parts. it shows how the breakup has literally broke him into such a weakened condition that he can no longer support himself.
-
Now I'm tryna make sense of what little remains, oh'Cause you left me with no love and no love to my name
in spite of her leaving the singer with no signs of affection. He is now trying to recollect himself and understand why the ex broke up with him even though he was already doing his utmost effort to "put her first".
-
You took your suitcase, I took the blame
"suitcases" are meant to carry one's belongings when travelling. so where is the ex travelling to if she's taking her suitcase? its pretty obvious that the ex is going away from the singer. which shows how she is "moving on" from him and to her new lover instead. The lyric "i took the blame" is meant to convey how the ex faulted the singer for not being able to "put her first" and is the main reason why they broke up. This must have made the singer feel awful as we know from the previous lyrics that he is already trying his best to satisfy her. This yet again emphasises how the relationship was one-sided love as a his ex should be grateful of his love and not criticise him.
-
'Cause I got time while she got freedom
this juxtaposition shows how the singer has "time" to reflect over the breakup unlike his ex who has "freedom" from the breakup. the message being conveyed here is that the singer is doing time in a mental prison that is related to the breakup which he cant escape, being in a prison is normally the outcome of someone who has done something wrong. But the singer is innocent, he didnt do anything wrong. So him being in a "prison" despite being a non-guilty person will just be torture. In the other hand, his ex is "free" from this so called mental prison regarding to the breakup. This shows how the breakup doesnt affect her at all and has already moved on from it. The theme here reflects of acceptance, it shows how different people views each situation differently, some may be heavily affected by a situation even though it may seem 'trivial' to others
