      I think this is why it's critical to educate ourselves on issues that don't personally affect us.

      This reminds me a lot of what Dr. Joy DeGruy was explaining during the video.

    5. We call these the Re-Centering skills. Using ReCentering skills, we collaborate with other Targets and with ally Agents to challenge system of oppression in the most effective, humanizing and streamlined ways. We use our understanding of systems of oppression to move into leadership roles in our social-change work.

      I think this speaks volumes regarding questioning the social norms to expose disparities.

      The microaggressions are just as detrimental as someone being loudly racist. It's the situations that can fall under the surface but still contribute to the status quo that appears as though; it is harder to address and perhaps this is where Confusion Skills might take place or just deciding if whether or not the energy is worth it.

    7. The second Survival skill is to fit the stereotype that the Agent group has of our Target group: to move, think and talk in conformity with Agent expectations for our group.

      Referring to Herbert Kohl's Article (The Politics of Children's Literature: What's Wrong with Rosa Parks Myth). The school system was trying to portray Rosa Parks as a person who was not intentionally going against this survival skill, but merely blaming the heat for not conforming to the agent's expectation.

    8. It takes more effort to use higher level skills, and we tend to choose the easier path that uses less-developed skills

      This could refer to the education system; It does play a contributor in regards to privileged people not noticing or just being okay with the rank machine.

    9. We also learned to sort and categorize other people based on their social membership assignment, and to expect certain behavior from them because of theirRank makeup.

      I think this is why within the news media, or just in society itself; anybody from a privileged rank often gets more recognition for challenging the system.

      I thought this quote was critical; this visibility is what people from a privileged rank often try to reject because it produces discomfort on their end.

      I think this may mean that remaining "cooperative" to the system does not entail a promise of politeness but will instead keep a Target silent.

      "reclaiming the language," is a step towards going outside of the Agent's expectations.

    1. . In 2016, a woman for the first time was nominated by a major political party for President. A former fighter pilot is now an Arizona congresswoman. Of incumbent female governors, four are Republicans and three are Democrats

      It's movements similar to the women's march that helped structure the path for women to be in politics though.
