    1. In historical research, the general issue of geocoding accuracy and the identification of locations becomes even more complex due to issues such as variant spelling, the change of location names over time, and various intricacies of historical sources.

      This statement made me realize that geocoding in historical research is far more complex than I thought. Variations in the spelling of place names and the uncertainty of historical information can really challenge locational accuracy, especially when dealing with ambiguous or dated data.

    1. Heatmaps: Show the density of data points on a map. For example, here is a heatmap of San Francisco bike rentals:

      It makes me think that heat maps are really intuitive and make it clear what areas the data is concentrated in. I do wonder though, if the amount of data is particularly large, will it affect the accuracy or readability of the heat map?
