    1. When farmers move into the snow leopard’s habitat, they often use the landscape for grazing land for their animals. This takes the land away from wild goats and sheep, limiting the big cat’s prey and, again, forcing it to seek out domestic animals as food.

and because poeple do that they are forced to do that which causes them to be killed.

    2. The WWF is also working with TRAFFIC to fight poaching and wildlife trafficking.

something is help to stop people from selling them.

    3. Pakistan, Nepal, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Russia, and India for awareness, conservation research, and monitoring, and to offer solutions like predator-proof corrals.

there are some places around the world that are supporting them

    4. As more people move into the snow leopard’s domain, they build homes, farms, factories, and infrastructure, taking away more of the cat’s habitat.

there taking away the habitat that helps them survive

    5. habitat loss, poaching, and retaliatory killing when they turn to livestock for prey.

      some of the causes

    6. Nearly all of the main threats to snow leopards come from humans who encroach on their territory.

like i have said before the main thing that causes harm to snow leopards is humans

    7. IUCN says the snow leopard's population numbers are still decreasing, and the cat continues to face a high risk of extinction.

even though it went from endangered to just at risk there population i still going down and facing extinction.

    1. The approximate amount of good snow leopard habitat

this is a chart showing places where there is still good habitats left for snow leopards

    2. Therefore, the warmer and wetter conditions consistent with cli-mate change predictions in this region may result in forestsascending into alpine areas, the snow leopards’ preferred habitat.

the habitat that is better prefer for them is gonna start changing in a way that they might not be able to survive in or find food in

    3. Climate change is emerging as an important threat to biodiver-sity

a threat is something big and this is effecting so many things and harming them

    4. We then assessed how change in treeline might affect the distribution of snow leop-ard habitat. Results indicate that about 30% of snow leopard habitat in the Himalaya may be lost due to ashifting treeline and consequent shrinking of the alpine zone, mostly along the southern edge of the rangeand in river valleys. But, a considerable amount of snow leopard habitat and linkages are likely to remainresilient to climate change, and these should be secured.

climate change has a big effect on snow leopard population it harms a big percentage of them.

    1. has already gotten 3 degrees warmer in the last 20 years. The changes impact the entire ecosystem: vegetation, water supplies, animals – and they threaten to make up to a third of the snow leopard’s habitat unusable.

this is such a big change its getting warmer year by year and its harming more than just snow leopards but its all connected

    2. herders sometimes kill snow leopards in retribution. This may account for more than half of all snow leopard killings.

to protect there form of getting money hereders kill snow leopards so they wont eat the livestock and this is a big percentage of them that are killed.

    3. wild sheep and goat—are also threatened by illegal or unsustainable hunting in many parts of the snow leopard range. If their populations decline, so do the snow leopard’s.

its like a cycle if one goes a lot more go as well

    4. Between 2008 and 2016 alone, one snow leopard has reportedly been killed and traded every day - 220 to 450 cats per year.

this is such a sad number traded every single day killed and traded for the good of people not caring about the animal themselvs.

    5. POACHING.

this is one of the big things that is happening to them. people are taking them and killing them and using them for things and reducing there population.

    6. no more than 6,390.

its not even such a high number of them left

    7. few as 3,920

a lot less then there was before of them

    1. After the conservation group’s report was issued, the Snow Leopard Trust said the “vulnerable” classification still meant there was a high risk of extinction.

even though the were out of endangered seen under vulnerable still meant they had a high risk of extinction.

    2. Snow leopards range across 12 countries in Central Asia

thats there so hard to reaserch

    3. Peter Zahler, coordinator of the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Snow Leopard Program and a member of the assessment team, said the team followed “strict and rigorous” scientific protocols. “The assessment used the lowest acceptable population figure – 4,000 – in its calculations, and still came up with vulnerable status for the snow leopard,” he said in an emailed statement.

they are trying to figure out and get the right population of snow leopards since their so hard to research on.

    4. Their skins are thick and whitish, patterned with dark rosettes and spots. Their bones and other body parts are used in traditional Asian medicine.

this is what they are used for when the get hunted and poached there fur is used for coats and fashion and there bones used for medicine

    5. at risk because of poaching and habitat loss, conservationists said this week.

the two things being talked about in this article

  3. Feb 2022
    1. turn to livestock for food. Humans will often kill snow leopards in retaliation for this as their livelihoods rely on their herds

since they need to find food since humans have taken there habitat where they would usually get food they need to turn to livestock which is owned by greedy humans that will kill them for getting anywhere near

    2. habitats and prey populations are reduced,

everything for them is going down and they need to find a way to survive thats the point of living finding a way to survive

    3. Demand for their fur, which is used for rugs and luxury décor, and their bones and organ parts, which are used in traditional Asian medicines, continue to drive population declines.

this is just sad and disgusting

    4. The killing and capture of snow leopards for the illegal wildlife trade

so not only do we steal there habitat to make more building but we kill them to sell them for money

    5. Climate change poses one of the largest threats to snow leopard populations

its one of the biggest problems and it has a way of beign solved we just all need to work together to change what we use and how we do things

    6. droughts, flooding, heatwaves and storms as human-induced carbon emissions continue to grow at alarming rates and natural carbon sinks are destroyed.

we keep using the one thing that is destroying our planet but big companies that use it a lot dont care because it gives them money.

    7. As large-scale development and mining activities increase, snow leopard habitats (and their prey species) are being reduced destroying the very ecosystem which they rely on to survive.

we are decreasing there survival by taking away the one place that helps them survive.

    8. loss of habitat has resulted in a decrease in prey populations

the more people the more buildings are build the more habitats are loss and the more so many animals go extinct, all this just goes back to people

    9. Human populations have doubled in the last 40 years

that is crazy doubled in the last 40 years thats billions of people in this world but because we have the power to ruin an animals life we take it and do it without thinking about it.

    10. downlisted to ‘vulnerable’ from ‘endangered’ under the IUCN Red List.

the words can be taken differently endangered means that there so little of them and vulnerable means that they are being hurt

    11. 3,500 – 6,500 snow leopards remain in the wild today.

this number was probably much higher beofre

    12. habitat fragmentation through land use change

the fact that people are chopping down trees and to build more buildings taking away the home of so many animals including snow leopards is just sad.

    13. Retaliatory killings

one of many things killing them from farmers

    14. humans pose the greatest threat to snow leopard populations and their habitats.

humans are the top of the list of causing harm to snow leopards or any animal in general

    15. listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.

if it on the red list that means that it's very serious and the decrease of there population is very bad.

    16. snow leopards were king of the mountains

they were kings meaning they were thriving at a point.
