In this passage I know that In recent years, anxiety, depression, and damaged self-esteem have been on the rise among teenagers (especially girls). Meta's internal research shows a "perceived impact" rather than a clear "causal mechanism." For example, Meta's research asked teenagers, "How do you feel Instagram has affected your emotions?", rather than using a randomized controlled trial to measure it. Therefore, I think it's difficult to measure the specific effects and how they occur, because it's a very personal and emotional question. Therefore, one crucial detail remains unclear: whether "social media causes mental health problems" or "teenagers with mental health issues are more likely to use social media."

    1. Social Media Influence on Mental Health

I totally agree that social media influence on mental health. Because many people's actions are amplified online, and anyone can express their opinions to the poster, a lot of different ideas emerge. People may argue or post comments that are detrimental to their mental and physical health. This leads to people suffering from cyberbullying. Many people become depressed or choose to end their lives because of cyberbullying, so I think this is a terrifying thing. We should focus more on ourselves, instead of on the Internet.

This Wikipedia entry describes the evolutionary path of cetaceans, starting with the discovery of cetacean fossils on land, then moving to shallow waters, and finally becoming entirely marine. Modern cetaceans also fall into two main categories, such as Mysticeti and Odontoceti. Their evolution involves not only genetic and skeletal development but also cultural behaviors, such as the use of different tools for foraging. Environmental factors also influenced the divergence of cetaceans. One such detail is the radioactive events; I observed three large-scale radioactive events, the last one occurring 12-2 million years ago.

    1. A meme is a piece of

For my experience, nowadays meme is kind of trends. People will put the most hottest influencers on meme, or some funny graph or words on meme. A particular type of meme may become trendy for a period of time, but meme trends change very quickly. A new meme trend might emerge roughly every month. People frequently showcase currently popular memes on social media. For example, the Madagascar penguin is a very popular meme on Chinese social media right now; it's both funny and well-known.

In this page, it shows us in the facebook's privacy setting, it allows users to find their facebook accounts by using their phone number, but even if user want to close that feature other people can still use their phone number to find their facebook accounts. One detail is facebook said they did not find evidence of abuse for the find feature. So I think for the large platform of such bid companies, they have to protect user's privacy, since their consumer base is really large. They have the responsibility to do that.

    1. recommendation algorithm,

I really understand of today's recommendation algorithm. For example, when me and my friends are chatting on a specific topic, later the posts will on my phone, also the posts sent to my friends will later send on my homepage. If you usually click and comments on a specific topic, it will send you more similar posts for you and even for the search bar will jump out the related words for you and guess you might want to search that topic.

This link shows us the concepts of disabled vary across eras and cultures. For example, in the middle ages, the physical differences could be considered religious punishment. But later on, the disability turn into a more biological differences definition way. However, here is a detail, that disability is not simply a physical or cognitive difference, but more about the society defines and responds to those difference. I think it is some how correct since people are social animals, we need to be recognized by society and the collective to a great extent. Disability may initially mean that one is physically unable to participate in social activities, but when a person is completely excluded from social activities, the consequences are similar to those of disability to some extent.

Hi, I learned EDSPE last winter quarter, and that course talked about disability people and education. Let me realized the real world problem of disability people faced, for example, their works, social identity and so on. Also disability not just refer to physical disabilities, but also includes learning disabilities, cognitive disabilities, emotional disorders, etc. We also discussed appearance anxiety. Therefore, there may be many cases of disability around us, which require us to observe carefully and then be tolerant and understanding.

It shows that the private message cannot be see at public, only the senders and receivers can view it. In this Wikipedia posts it also said the history of the private message. For example, there are some details shows the first email system was in 1971 enabled cross computer personal messaging. However, I know that as we using Wechat for example, at Tencent back stage, it can see what we sent, but they probably will not check the message everyday, and will regularly delete data.

    1. We might want

I totally understand of protecting privacy on Internet. For example, now, I need to shopping online and leave my phone number and credit card account. After that everyday I will received scam call from NewYork or California, and someone also said my passport were loss. Also my friends' credit card has been stolen and used online before. So I think it is really important to prevent people from stealing our identities or accounts. Someone just said before, as long as you used Internet, there definitely will have record.

The article shows the there is a machine learning algorithms to define whether or not this person is criminal according to their facial appearance or physiognomic cues. For example, here is a detail in this article, in the 19th century Cesare Lombroso and Francis Galton thought that people with sloping forehead or hawk like nose might be born criminal. However, I think it is not a rational way to certificate the criminal. It might be some clues, but people who have "good person" face might also be criminal, appearance is not everything.

Nowadays, the social platforms are too intelligent, for example, the posts that shows on my friends' main page, will send to me later on. Or when we are talking about some topics, then the social media will send the related posts to us few minutes after. Also, if we like related posts, they will continuous to send similar posts to us. In last year, Chinese platforms like rednotes or weibo will also required users to show their ip and located places when they leave comments under the posts or video. I know that their original intention was to make commentators pay more attention to their words and actions, but sometimes they can give network hackers the opportunity to track their addresses.

    1. ive? Comedian Impersonates FBI on Twitter, Makes MLK Assassination Joke. January 2020

For the summary of this link: it is talks about On Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 2020, comedian Jaboukie Young White changed his Twitter profile picture and name to "FBI" and posted a satirical tweet. It is not first time he did such "joke". The detail of this journalist Jake Tapper's clues to remind readers of what did FBI do to MLK and to let readers themselves to decide whether it is joke or not. However, on my personal perspective, I think it is not ok for everyone making joke on a dead people, and MLK was a person who has had a great impact in the past. So this guys definitely know the posts can bring online popularity to him, so I don't think it is just a funny joke.

    1. g Powerful: Trolling sometimes

I really understand the interpretation of troll, cause nowadays we can find troll on many social media app. At first, I don't know why there are so many troll, but now I realized maybe they are just want to. Maybe show they are really smart and know beyond than others, but actually they just posts a troll. Or maybe they just want other people pay more attention on them and transfer the focus points. I think those kinds of people, they might just cannot get attention from others in reality so they will find a presence online. But now I know that maybe it just want to punish or stop. It brings a new idea for me, maybe next time I can focus on those points.

    1. COVID-19 pandemic. N

This shows the information about how covid-19 started and expanded. It said that the virus is founded on 2019.12 in China and WHO announced it is a public health emergency of international concern on 2020.1.30. Until 2023.11, there are 778523540 people had covid and 7100783 were died because of covid-19. However, there might be more excess mortality during this period. Many countries provided vaccines to their people, and quarantine patients. Here is a detail in this website is that many companies and shutdown during covid-19 periods, and caused supply shortage and unemployment rate increased.

    1. Early in the days of YouTube, one YouTube channel (lonelygirl15 [f1]) started to release vlogs (video web logs) consisting of a girl in her room giving updates on the mundane dramas of her life. But as the channel continued posting videos and gaining popularity, viewers started to question if the events being told in the vlogs were true stories, or if they were fictional. Eventually, users discovered that it was a fictional show, and the girl giving the updates was an actress.

Now in the social media there are many influencer sustain their fake persona. For example, they might be fake couple, fake job. Or sometimes when they want to sell their product, they will make fake video to shows how good the products are, but the true thing is the products aren't that good, they all want is for money. However, some influencer will make short drama video online, I think it is ok, because if they told everyone first, then people will just watch it as a drama. But if you want to sell some products and make fake video, I think that is pretty bad. So when facing the video online, we should be careful.

    1. Conspiracy Theories Abo

In this passage it talks about back into 19th century's America, the communication was no well developed yet, the information may ambiguity and lag. In this way, the environment was very suitable for conspiracy theories. People might use conspiracy theories in political parties and attack opponents, and affect voters. One of the detail example is conspiratorial rhetoric in presidential campaigns, and use this way to increase thee voting base.

    1. One of the early ways of social communication across the internet was with Email [e5], which originated in the 1960s and 1970s. These allowed people to send messages to each other, and look up if any new messages had been sent to them.

As for me, since I am a Chinese student, in China people usually don't use email for daily or work communication. Sometimes people will use email for work, but it is just very less often compare with WeChat or DingDing. Chinese people usually use app to send message to others, it is faster and more convenience for people. I think in US, using email to send message between student and professor sometime is time consuming and I don't know whether or not they receive the message.

    1. W3Schools. Python Sets. URL:

In those W3School, it all include how to use lists, tuples, sets in python. I choose the sets one, which said that A set is a collection which is unordered, unchangeable*, and unindexed. And do not allow duplicate values. Which I learned in class is un-mutable. It can used with dictionary, and clean data in order to have no repeat data. One of the detail in this reference is You can also use len() to check how long is this set. In the set it can contain different data type like string, int or True or False.

    1. So all data that you might find is a simplification. There are many seemingly simple questions that in some situations or for some people, have no simple answers, questions like:

I really agree of what it said, since like in 4.2.3, if we search and turn something into data we might lose some specific details or background of the data. All we want is to let it turn into simple. When I ask the question of what country are I am from, I will answer that I am from China Chongqing, However, I lived Beijing for 13 years, and now I study in Seattle US. I spend more time in places other than Chongqing which is my hometown. If it turn into data, it might just include China. When I answer the question like how many people live in this house, I will said three people. But I will say more about our room like, it is 4b2b, however one of the student just leave and there is no more people come in, so it turn into 3b2b. But the data might just include 3. For the question how many words in this chapter, the data might just include a number, however, as for me I will introduce more content of each parts.

    1. Sarah Jeong. How to Make a Bot That Isn't Racist. Vice, March 2016. URL:

The detail in this reference that I pick is "“You really have to sit down and think through the consequences,” said Kazemi. “It should go to the core of your design.” it shows to me that sometimes when people are design the bots they just to exclude certain bad words but did not try to let bots itself to self study and understand the deeper logic of paragraph. The summary of this reference is nowadays many people are under value the internet environment and leads bots hat limitation. Moreover, bots needs a better monitor and control standard. Engineer need to think about data, algorithms, and human intervene when they design bots, and think more than just certain race.

    1. Some bots are intended to be helpful, using automation to make tasks easier for others or to provide information, such as:

I want to share my experience of friendly bots in social media app in China, the application calls Weibo. The bots can appear to VIP's or hottest posts and comment with his thinking. It will mimic human tone to make funny or sharp comments, and sometimes you will find it very intelligent, able to accurately capture the content of posts and post empathetic comments. But sometimes it cannot accurately catch the true meaning of the post, it only captures superficial statements, so the comments left behind may feel inappropriate. But overall, I think it's a very interesting and friendly bot that deserves further updates and upgrades. Also, now I will use chatgpt everyday, I think it might be a friendly bots. Since it is very powerful and very intelligent, can answer many question and make people's work faster than before.

    1. What changes to Twitter could have changed how this story went?

I think there are two ways for the stories. The first one is twitter retreat the posts and let all related videos or posts no on the app again in order to reduce the popularity of this news. However, in this way they might not made more money from it. The second one is making this time on the hot search list and push it to more people, making more people click on this post, which can increase the discussion and gain more attention. This way, profits can be made through advertising or other public relations expenses.

    1. Act with unforced actions in harmony with the natural cycles of the universe. Trying to force something to happen will likely backfire. Rejects Confucian focus on ceremonies/rituals. Prefers spontaneity and play. Like how water (soft and yielding), can, over time, cut through rock.

As a Chinese we learned confucianism a lot but today I want to talk more about Taosim. In Taosim, we cannot only conclude that they choose to spontaneity and play. Taosim is not equal to not doing work, not studying, not working hard, but opposing excessive control. To be yourself (But we cannot violate ethical and legal principles)and compare less in order to have less peer pressure. For confucianism it will be more traditional compare to Taoism.
