    1. Most of human history is the history of elites, of kings, queens, princes, prelates, magistrates, potentates, knights, earls, and squires, all of whom subordinated and exploited everyday people.

What My man Right here stated was 100 percent the right thing to say. We have always known about the kings and queens but never about the less people that never had that amount of money. It is just so disgusting rich people always get everything

    2. tradition is not something you inherit—if you want it, you must sacrifice for it. In other words, tradition must be fought for. . . .

This really struck out to me because it necessarily does not make sense in my way of thinking. I have never fought for my tradition or to keep the tradition going. But also maybe it is never inherited, if you want to follow it you will.

    1. During the past four years the discussion around the causes of our polluted information ecosystem has focused almost entirely on actions taken (or not taken) by the technology companies.

I agree with this statement so much because this reminds me of the things FACEBOOK is doing to stop having all this misinformation floating around in people's timelines and it is hard for these companies ,but FACEBOOK has taken the lead in trying to reduce the amount of misinformation on it's sites.

    2. One of the most iconic images from that day shows a large clustering of New Yorkers staring upward. The power of the photograph is that we know the horror they're witnessing.

This was a very well picture that can actually be used for the statement that says" A picture can mean a thousand of words." This is what is happening in that picture so many words rushing through peoples heads it was a very sad place to be in.

    3. who enabled communication at speed had been forced to run a 9/11 scenario with their technologies before they deployed them commercially.

I feel like I know what he is talking about. I am certainly thinking that he is saying that if companies had to deal with such a tragedy that 9/11 was how fast could information be spread as well as misinformation.

    1. Some studies seem to show that increased social media use actually increases social interaction offline. I wonder how this squares with your thesis?

I feel the way she stated this was amazing because asa I am a manager at a restaurant that online image has to be 100% so you can reach a larger clientele. I am on the socials a-lot to see what people are saying and the comments on the food and the establishment.

    2. First, it decreases the quality of what you talk about, because you talk about things where you wouldn’t mind being interrupted,

100 % agree with this because if you are worried about the phone maybe conversation will be less in dept.

    3. Eighty-nine percent of Americans say that during their last social interaction, they took out a phone,

I be doing this often when i am with friends or even when I am with my family sadly.

    4. Because conversation is the most human and humanizing thing that we do. It’s where empathy is born, where intimacy is born—because of eye contact, because we can hear the tones of another person’s voice, sense their body movements, sense their presence.

In one of my business classes I learned having these are your soft skill would really help you have the opportunity to get a job! Social skills are the most important skills to have.

    1. The Internet may cause our minds to wander off, and yet a quick look at the history of books suggests that we have been wandering off all along. When we read, the eye does not progress steadily along the line of text; it alternates between saccades—little jumps—and brief stops, not unlike the movement of the mouse’s cursor across a screen of hypertext.

Wait so I am just stating this but so in reality we have always been distracted while reading and we have never had the full grasp of a text because we always have to do some kind of break to keep reading?

    2. the secret gift of time to think”

This quote right here I agree with. I have noticed when I am reading a-text I am always stopping and trying to comprehend what the text is stating and it is amazing how we can all do that. It really shows how powerful we are.

    3. the normal thing was to read aloud.

This is crazy to think that reading was out loud. I would hate reading out loud because I feel like I mess up often. Also, how would it be in school or at your house if we would still read everything out loud?

    1. Some economists have argued that ill-informed voters, far from being lazy or self-sabotaging, s

I totally agree with this because this is literally me not going to lie. but, it is because when I see ads or stories I rather skip them and see a video of a cat falling off the bed. I feel like some Americans are just as me and want to see something funny then going and actually wasting time on a topic.

    2. law required new voters to take a test if they couldn’t prove that they had an eighth-grade education.

I feel like this is BS. If they have the right to vote let them vote. In a democratic country everyone should have a voice on how and what they feel towards a certain idea. I feel like it may be hard at times because not everyone has had same education but, there is always immigrants that have came over here with degrees.

    3. About as many are incapable of naming even one of the three branches of the United States government. Fewer than a quarter know who their senators are, and only half are aware that their state has two of them.

This is actually not surprising at all. I only know very little about this because I had learned it during my junior year in high school. These are facts that are quickly forgotten. I barely remember anything in that civics class.
